In the context of globalization,international politics and economy are undergoing major changes.As an important scholar in the study of normative theory of international relations,Chris Brown,based on modern political philosophy,aims at the complex international theoretical and practical environment,takes globalization and global governance as the breakthrough point,pays attention to the historical evolution of normative theory and the combing of key concepts,extends reality with theory,and pays attention to the analysis of practical problems.Pay attention to the analysis of practical problems.In order to have a thorough understanding of Chris Brown’s international thought,it is necessary to start from his text.This paper takes his four most important books and dozens of papers as the object of analysis,collates,summarizes and discusses them,and strives to form a comprehensive and systematic study of Chris Brown’s international thought.The first part is the introduction,focusing on the research status of domestic and foreign scholars on Chris Brown,compared to domestic,foreign research field is more comprehensive and in-depth,domestic scholars only focus on Brown’s normative theory scholar identity,foreign scholars also studied Brown’s exposition of human nature,justice,war and so on.Chris Brown’s international thought enriches and perfects the theory of international relations,especially in normative theory.The second part is divided into three chapters.The first chapter introduces Chris Brown’s academic history and his main works in detail.The second chapter analyzes the core content of Chris Brown.The third chapter summarizes the research characteristics,significance and defects of Chris Brown’s international thought.The first chapter is a discussion of Chris Brown and his works,focusing on Brown’s academic history and the four most important books in his academic career.Including International Relations Theory: a New Normative Approach;Understanding International Relations;Sovereignty,Rights and Justice;International Society,Global Politics: An Introduction to International Political Theory.Then it introduces the historical background of the theoretical nourishment brought to Brown by the second and third international relations theory debates and the development of international relations theory after 1980,as well as the theoretical origins influenced by Oakeshott,Nardin and Amartya Sen.The second chapter summarizes the main content of Chris Brown’s international thought,introduces the study of cosmopolitanism and communitarianism in his international normative theory,and elucidates the key concepts in his international thought,such as political thought,international relations theory,state,nation,liberalism and human nature;Study the above three parts of Brown on international justice and global justice,humanitarian war and the war on terrorism,foreign policy and international morality.On the basis of the first two chapters,the third chapter analyzes the research characteristics of normativism in Chris Brown’s international thought,the research tendency of two-way interaction between theory and practice,and the inclusive and pluralistic analysis method,and analyzes the significance of Chris Brown’s international thought,including its enrichment of international normativism theory and its “transcendence” of British international relations theory;At the same time,it points out the theoretical defects in Chris Brown’s international thought,including the paradox between what should be and what is,and the mismatch between theoretical basis and practical application.In the third part,which is the conclusion,Chris Brown can be regarded as a master of international thought in the field of British international relations.Although there are still some shortcomings in Brown’s international thought,in the overall situation,Brown is worthy of this title.
