Police mentoring is an important management practice to promote the development of public security organs, improve the efficiency of police resources and stimulate the vitality of the team, which is conducive to the smooth development of public security work and the steady improvement of public security combat effectiveness.Mentoring relationship is the core element of the operation of mentoring system.Clarifying the internal logic of the influence of mentoring relationship on the work performance of both parties is conducive to the harmonious coexistence of mentoring and mentoring of police and the realization of the two-way improvement of work ability and level. This study firstly systematically reviews the existing research results on mentoring relationship, trust perception, proactive personality, stress perception, psychological capital and job performance. On this basis, based on the social exchange theory, this paper deduces the hypothesis from the perspective of apprentices, and constructs a substudy model of the impact of mentoring relationship on apprentices’ work performance. From the perspective of mentors, this paper constructs two sub-research models on the influence of mentoring relationship on mentors’ work performance.Secondly, this study collected data for pairs of mentors and apprentices through the questionnaire survey. The questionnaire survey is divided into two stages: pre-survey and formal survey.Questionnaires are sent out to collect data, and SPSS24.0,AMOS23.0 and other software are used to conduct descriptive statistical analysis, reliability and validity test, correlation analysis and regression analysis on the collected data to verify the research hypothesis.Through multiple regression analysis of 281 police mentoring matching data, this study reached the following conclusions: First, mentoring relationship has a positive impact on the work performance of both mentors and apprentices.Second, the mentor-apprentice relationship has a significant positive impact on the apprentice’s trust perception.Third, the apprentice’s emotional trust and cognitive trust in the master play a part-mediating role in the process of the master-apprentice relationship affecting the apprentice’s work performance.Fourth, the mentor-apprentice relationship has a significant negative impact on the work pressure of the master.Fifth, the obstructive pressure perception of the master’s "passing on the help" work plays a partial mediating role in the process of the mentor-apprentice relationship affecting his work performance.Sixth, the psychological capital of the master has a negative moderating effect between the relationship between the mentor-apprentice relationship and the relationship of pressure perception.Based on the research conclusions and discussion and interpretation, this study takes the construction of harmonious mentor-apprentice relationship and the realization of two-way improvement of police mentor-apprentice relationship work performance as the foothold, and puts forward the following countermeasures and suggestions: first, establish a talent development mechanism with mentor-apprentice relationship as the core;Second, attach importance to the construction of apprentices’ trust in their masters;Third, optimize the path for relieving the work pressure of police masters;Fourth, attach importance to the construction of psychological capital of police officers.
