With China’s economic and social development and the vigorous advancement of education, gender equality in education has achieved remarkable results.Although women’s right to education has been more protected, the problem of gender inequity in education still exists to varying degrees. At present, with the rapid economic and social development, the issue of gender equality in education appears to be particularly important, and the process of achieving gender equality in education is still a long way off.The issue of gender equality in education has always been one of the key issues in education, affecting the access to education and the level of education of both sexes. There may be gender differences in the educational attainment of gender groups in different birth sequences due to different social environments, families and life circumstances.Based on the above research background, based on the review of existing literature and analysis of related theories, this paper uses the2008-2015 China Comprehensive Social Survey data(CGSS2008-2015)to examine the trend of gender differences in education obtained between different gender groups.Use OLS regression analysis method to analyze the influencing factors of male and female education acquisition from individual characteristics, family socioeconomic status, regional environment, etc;based on this, further use Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition to test the gender differences. The study draws the following conclusions: First, the gender difference in education attainment among populations of different birth sequences has gradually decreased with the passage of the year of birth.Within the western region, groups are still prominent.Second, the OLS regression results of the total sample show that people’s educational attainment is affected by gender differences.Gender variables have a significant positive impact on people’s educational attainment.Men’s education is higher than that of women.Third, the OLS regression results of different gender groups show that there are differences in education attainment among different gender groups.People’s educational attainment will be affected by factors such as individual characteristics, family endowment and external environment, and there are differences among different gender groups.Fourth, the Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition results further analyze the reasons for gender differences in overall and men’s and women’s educational attainment. In general,it is found that the main cause of gender differences in access to education by different gender groups is gender discrimination. In terms of chronological ages, the main reason for the gender difference in educational attainment among groups before the 1980 s is still gender discrimination, and among the groups after the 1980 s,the heterogeneity of the groups is the main cause of the differences. The reason is that household registration, year of birth, ethnicity, education level of parents, and region have the highest contribution to the difference, which are the main factors leading to gender differences. To this end, this article puts forward policy recommendations to eliminate gender discrimination and gender differences in the process of obtaining education and promote the realization of gender equality in education.(1)Strengthen the supply of education resources and improve the allocation of education resources;(2)Promote the reform of the household registration system and broaden the channels for the development of low-educated people;(3)Adjust the expectations of gender roles and improve the concept and awareness of education equity;(4)Improve education regulations And actively develop women’s education.
