With the promotion of the reform of "release, management and service" in the field of sports and the cancellation of the approval of commercial mass sports events, marathon events are developing with each passing day and the number is increasing dramatically. At the same time, more and more small and medium-sized cities are aware of the positive influence of various aspects brought by the event to the city, and have begun to hold the marathon,a large-scale mass sports event.By using the method of literature,Delphi, field investigation and mathematical statistics, this paper studies the correlation between Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon and the urban development of Yangzhou based on the analysis of the "blowout"development of marathons in small and medium-sized cities in China.Based on the theory of "triple bottom line",this paper first constructs the index system of marathon and the development of small and medium-sized cities. Then, the Grey Relational Analysis method was used to carry out mathematical analysis on the data of each index from 2015 to 2019 and the registration number of Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon in the same period, and the result and ranking of each index and the development of Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon were obtained. Then the cause of the result is analyzed. Finally, relevant measures and suggestions are put forward for Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon and the shortcomings of Yangzhou development presented in the analysis process. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:First, based on the theory of "triple bottom line" is constructed on the marathon and index system of the development of small and medium cities,Economic development,Social development,Environment development index of three levels of class. There are 7 secondary indicators, such as the cities increased consumption and investment, the development of relevant industries, the creation of urban employment. There are 21 three-level indicators, such as the per capita sports consumption expenditure, the investment amount of urban infrastructure construction, the total output value of sports industry.Secondly, taking Yangzhou as an example, based on the above indicators of marathon events and the development of small and medium-sized cities, the Grey Relational Analysis shows that there is a certain relation between Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon and the urban development of Yangzhou. The results show that:Social development is greater than Economic development, which is greater than Environmental development.Thirdly, through the analysis of results,it is found that Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon is most closely related to the urban social development of Yangzhou, especially the proportion of Yangzhou’s sports population. There is a mutual cause and effect between the competition and the urban economic development, which shows that:the event can promote the development of urban economy to a certain extent;A good city’s economy is the necessary guarantee for the success of sports events. However,it also reflects that the holding of Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon has a lack of driving effect on the development of Yangzhou sports industry. The main suggestions of this paper are as follows:Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon needs to deeply cultivate the race economy and develop the sports industry;Promote the event through multiple channels and diversification with the benefit of the city;Improve the image of the event through management, service and culture;Meanwhile, the urban development of Yangzhou also needs to enhance the comprehensive strength of the city and improve the urban infrastructure;Fifth,Attract local enterprises to participate in the development of sports events.
