Optimization Study Of Xiamen Marathon’s Competition Events Basing On Comparison Between Elite Platinum Label Marathons

The study mainly aims to compare features of Xiamen Marathon,Shanghai Marathon and Abbott World Marathon Majors which are all Platinum label road races.Tring to find out the characteristics of universality and individuality of Elite Platinum Label Races.Then taking the empirical investigation of differences between different competitions.Exploring the causes behind the differences and giving advices of optimization to Xiamen Marathon.Through the comparison of 13 specific dimensions of Xiamen Marathon,Shanghai Marathon and Abbott World Marathon Majors in competition organization,logistics support,media and charity,the study concludes the similarities and differences between Elite Platinum Label Races as follows:1.From the perspective of competition organization,on the premise of meeting the basic rules,the types of disability events in the Majors are more abundant than that of Chinese Platinum Label Marathons and the scale is relatively larger.The underlying reasons are limited capacity and lack of demand for Xiamen Marathon.2.From the perspective of track type,the common track types in Elite Platinum Label Races are "continuous","encircling" and "turning-back".The atmosphere through track relates to locating in the urban area,with "refueling points" set along the way,and various forms of cheering.3.From the perspective of logistics support,the volunteer service of Elite Platinum Label Races contains links closely related to the whole marathon,but there are significant differences in recruitment methods and the proportion of volunteers to runners.There are two main ways to recruit volunteers in the society or colleges before the competition and to select through volunteer organizations.The interview results show that the service quality of Xiamen Marathon has been improving year by year.Adequate basic medical equipment is provided for each marathon on match day.But outside of race days,with the exception of the Tokyo Marathon,each marathon provides sports medicine guidelines,providing "health care" for runners in a spiritual and intellectual way.4.from the perspective of media,in terms of the specific operation of marathon,the official website and social media is the common media methods,but Shanghai Marathon has not released media guide,Berlin marathon is not set up a mobile applications,Xiamen Marathon has the most specific title on the official website which is more convenient for information searching.5.From the perspective of charity,there are obvious differences between Xiamen Marathon,Shanghai Marathon and Abbott World Marathon Majors.The amount of donations and corresponding public welfare projects of the Majors are higher than those of Xiamen Marathon and Shanghai Marathon.The cause of this situation is mainly related to the difference of public welfare mode and fund-raising form in China and other countries.Through empirical investigation,this study finds Xiamen Marathon has the following characteristics:1.Xiamen Marathon has reached a high level in the aspects of organization,providing the services and supporting the logistics of the events,which reflects the quality of the events in Xiamen Marathon.However,the structure level and scale of the disability events in Xiamen Marathon need to be enriched;2.Xiamen Marathon has made some achievements in the design and content induction of the Media Guide.As a mobile terminal application,Xiamen Marathon set up WeChat small program to meet the needs of runners;3.It is of positive significance for Xiamen Marathon to provide sports medicine guidelines in 2021,but the coverage cycle of the sports and nutrition program,the communication channels of sports medicine guidelines and the content integration of sports medicine guidelines remain to be improved in Xiamen Marathon.Therefore,this study puts forward the following two suggestions for the optimization of Xiamen Marathon:1.Promote the diversification and scale of disability events in the event organization based on social survey;2.To improve the systematization and periodicity of sports medicine guidelines by collecting suggestions from groups in different fields.
