As a higher-order thinking,critical thinking is of great significance to the development of individuals and societies.In recent years,most scholars have emphasized the combination of critical thinking training and specific subject teaching,but most of the research stays at the theoretical level and lacks a specific teaching model for cultivating critical thinking ability.With the rapid development of information technology,desktop virtual reality has been widely used in the field of education with its own characteristics of immersion,interaction and imagination,opening up a new way for subject teaching.This study aims to integrate desktop virtual reality with the teaching of mathematics subjects.Using research methods such as literature research method,questionnaire survey method,interview method and educational experiment method,and under the guidance of relevant learning theories,a CMEDE teaching model based on desktop virtual reality is constructed,which includes five steps: Creating situations,asking questions;Making assumptions,formulate strategies;Explore independently,test hypotheses;Draw conclusions,express communication;Evaluate and reflect.According to the CMEDE teaching mode based on desktop virtual reality,the teaching activities are designed to improve the critical thinking ability of high school students.Next,we will discuss the development of this research work and the research results obtained from three aspects.(1)Basic theoretical research.This paper combs the domestic and foreign literature on the cultivation of "critical thinking" and the application of "desktop virtual reality" in teaching,analyzes the existing problems and the relationship between the two,and defines the critical thinking within the scope of this research.Thinking and the concept of desktop virtual reality;combing the relevant theories,expounding and summarizing the four main research basic theories of cognitive development theory,constructivist learning theory,situational learning theory and reflective thinking theory.(2)Research on the construction of CMEDE teaching mode based on desktop virtual reality.By consulting relevant literature,this paper analyzes the ways to improve critical thinking ability,and summarizes the classic teaching mode and characteristics of critical thinking ability cultivation.The teaching mode of CMEDE,and its characteristics and mechanism of action were analyzed.According to the constructed CMEDE teaching mode based on desktop virtual reality,the teaching activities are designed,including the teaching activities of quadratic functions,power functions and elementary functions,and according to the needs of teaching experiments,the measurement tools of this research are determined,mainly including: mathematics Critical Thinking Skills Preand Post-Test Questions,California Critical Thinking Skills Test Questions,Inquiry Learning Activity Task Sheet and Student Interview Outline.(3)Practical research on CMEDE teaching mode for high school mathematics courses.The research selects two parallel classes in the first grade of a high school in Zhangqiu District,Jinan City as the control class and the experimental class,and conducts experiments in mathematics.The CMEDE teaching mode based on desktop virtual reality constructed in this research.Before and after the teaching,the students in the experimental class and the control class were tested before and after the math critical thinking and California critical thinking ability,and some students were interviewed after each teaching activity to understand the students’ critical thinking before and after the test.Ability changes.The research results show that,compared with the traditional mathematics classroom teaching mode,the CMEDE teaching mode based on desktop virtual reality can not only effectively improve students’ overall critical thinking ability,but also effectively improve all dimensions of critical thinking ability,especially self-regulation.Compared with analysis,reasoning,judgment,and interpretation,the ability dimension has a more obvious improvement effect.This research proves that the CMEDE teaching mode based on desktop virtual reality can effectively improve the quality of mathematics teaching,and is more conducive to cultivating the critical thinking ability of high school students compared with the traditional mathematics classroom teaching mode,which provides new opportunities for future mathematics teaching activities.direction.However,due to the limitation of time and technical ability,there are still many deficiencies in the research.Future research work will focus on how to improve students’ critical thinking ability under the CMEDE teaching mode based on desktop virtual reality.
