Non-suicidal self-injury(NSSI)refers to a behavior that an individual harms his body directly and deliberately by different means and ways without taking suicide and loss of life as the purpose.Adolescent stage is a crucial phase for the change and development of non-suicidal self-injury.This negative behavior is one of the critical risk factors affecting the mental and physical health of adolescents, which attracts the attention of educators and parents of students. Moreover,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to discuss adolescent non-suicidal self-injury.Through literature analysis,it is found that the previous research on the influence mechanism of adolescent non-suicidal self-injury is particularly inadequate. Therefore, this study intends to explore the influence of childhood adverse experiences on adolescents’ non-suicidal self-injury,and explore the possible intermediary role of resilience.Combined with theoretical literature analysis, questionnaire survey and statistical analysis, this study mainly includes two studies. In study 1,634 boarding school students were surveyed using the Childhood traumatic questionnaire,Connor-Davidson resilience scale, and deliberate self-harm inventory. This paper explores the relationship between adolescents’ childhood adverse experiences, resilience and non-suicidal selfinjury. In study 2,444 adolescents were surveyed with the same questionnaire and scale as in study 1 for three times to explore the relationship between childhood adverse experiences, resilience and non-suicidal self-injury.The results of study 1 indicated that :(1)There was no significant gender difference in non-suicidal self-injury;(2)There was a significant relationship between childhood adverse experiences, resilience and non-suicidal self-injury;(3)Resilience has a mediating effect on the relationship between childhood adverse experiences and non-suicidal self-injury.The results of study 2 indicated that :(1)Adolescents’ childhood adverse experience and non-suicidal self-injury showed a decreasing trend in the three measures, and the scores of resilience showed an increasing trend in the three measures;(2)The childhood adverse experiences at the previous time point significantly negatively predicted the resilience at the later time point, and the childhood adverse experiences at the previous time point significantly positively predicted the non-suicidal self-injury at the later time point, and the resilience significantly negatively predicted the non-suicidal self-injury at the later time point.(3)Resilience played a longitudinal intermediary role between childhood adverse experiences and non-suicidal self-injury.In conclusion, the results of both cross-sectional and longitudinal studies indicated that resilience plays an intermediary role between adolescents’ childhood adverse experiences and non-suicidal self-injury,that is,childhood adverse experiences can influence adolescents’ non-suicidal self-injury through resilience.
