| With the attention of the society to fertility, the practice of female motherhood has come into people’s attention. At present, most domestic researches on female motherhood practice focus on urban middle class mothers, and few scholars explore the practical experience of physical disabilities. This study uses qualitative research methods, based on social role theory to analyze the maternal practices of physically disabled women in rural social background, and explores their practical experiences in such aspects as role selection, role playing, how social support promotes the coordination of maternal roles of physically disabled women, and how the maternal practices influence physically disabled women themselves. To enrich the practical connotation of motherhood. For most women, being a wife and being a mother separate their roles.Although the choice to become a mother is the common experience of most women, for women in different social backgrounds and different positions, their practical experience of motherhood also has its particularity. After a careful analysis of the interview records of rural women with physical disabilities, this study makes several findings:First, the choice of maternal roles for women with physical disabilities is based on both their own and family considerations, but also forced to reverse external prejudice and pressure.Secondly, women with physical disabilities encounter more difficulties in the practice of motherhood due to their physical particularity, and solve more problems through their own wisdom and efforts.Thirdly, social support assists the coordination of maternal roles for women with physical disabilities;Fourthly, the practice process of motherhood has an important impact on women’s self and enhances their sense of self-worth.In view of this,it is hoped that through the relevant research of this paper, more people can understand the practice of motherhood of rural women with physical disabilities, correct the inherent social prejudice, and give more practical inspiration to the motherhood of women with physical disabilities. At the same time,it is also hoped to arouse the public’s attention and care for the special group of rural women with physical disabilities,so as to realize their own value and rights. |
