| In recent years,the trend of ageing in China has become increasingly serious,and institutional care is becoming more and more popular.In this regard,the State Council has issued a number of documents to promote the high-quality development of elderly care institutions.According to available research findings,elderly people in institutions have more negative emotions due to their own reasons and poor institutional management.However,physical exercise is an effective means of improving physical and mental health,the importance of which is now recognised by many institutions.Although institutions are meeting the basic needs of the elderly,the lack of high level,professional sports care teams means that there is still a lack of physical activity design for the elderly,which does not effectively promote the overall physical and mental health of the elderly.The aim of this dissertation is to explore the situation of negative emotions of elderly people in elderly institutions and the factors that influence them,and to verify the influence of the participation of elderly people in sports activities on negative emotions,in the hope that a scientific approach can be adopted to eliminate negative emotions of elderly people in elderly institutions,so that elderly people can spend their old age in a positive state of mind.At the same time,it provides a practical approach to the ageing work of elderly institutions,especially the work related to the development of psychological counselling for the elderly,and thus improves the management level and service quality of the institutions.In this dissertation,the elderly people in Xuzhou Jiurucheng Recreation Centre were selected as the subjects of investigation.The research methods such as literature,questionnaire,participant observation,interview and mathematical statistics were used to investigate the influence of elderly people’s physical activity participation on negative emotions in elderly institutions.Firstly,the general information questionnaire,the Physical Activity Rating Scale and the Negative Emotion Scale for the Elderly were used to understand the current situation and the factors influencing the negative emotions of the elderly.On this basis,14 elderly people with negative emotions were selected to participate in sports activities to help them learn to vent and alleviate their negative emotions and face their old age with a positive attitude,thus verifying the effect of sports activities on negative emotions of the elderly.Therefore,semi-structured interviews were conducted with some of the elderly people who participated in the physical activity intervention to find out the effect of physical activity participation on negative emotions among the elderly people in elderly care institutions.Combining the results of the mathematical analysis and the interviews led to the following research findings.(1)Factors affecting the negative emotions of older people in Xuzhou Jiurucheng Recreation Centre included: age,education level,health self-assessment status,Frequency of family visits,satisfaction with the aged care institution,and physical activity status.(2)Participation in physical activity can effectively improve the negative mood of older people.An effective and safe physical activity programme should focus on group activities,such as hand gesture dance,aerobics,tai chi,collaborative sports mini-games,etc.These activities are fun,low in difficulty,interactive and easy to promote among the elderly population.(3)The sports activities programme is simple,easy to implement and highly operable,and the venue for implementing the programme can be adjusted according to the actual situation,which can be widely promoted in elderly institutions.(4)Physical activity participation can improve negative mood scores and reduce negative emotions in older people.It is mainly manifested in four areas: maintaining health,improving control of diseases,maintaining physical fitness and regulating mental emotions.Firstly,it reduces negative emotions by improving the physical health of the elderly;secondly,it reduces negative emotions by generating positive psychological benefits through self-affirmation,gaining a sense of achievement and adding pleasure;thirdly,it improves the stress coping ability of the elderly by improving their emotion management skills and seeking social support in order to reduce negative emotions;fourthly,it improves institutional daily life and interpersonal relationships by adapting to social adaptability to reduce negative emotions. |
