As social competition intensifies, employees are increasingly aware of their physical and mental health while dealing with escalating work pressure and a faster pace of life.Physical exercise,an effective means of promoting health, can help alleviate work stress, enhance physical fitness, and thereby improve the quality of life. However, employees often encounter various hindrances during their participation in physical exercise, leading to unsatisfactory results. Thus, research and practice targeting the physical exercise needs of employees are becoming particularly important. In this study,we selected 10 employees served by the Y city General Union as our research subjects.Utilizing interviews, observation, and questionnaire surveys,we found four main issues among the subjects: insufficient social interaction in sports activities, lack of professional sports guidance, limited variety in sports activities, and lack of health management knowledge.Social workers conducted a needs analysis for these issues, and under the guidance of social support theory, group social work practice was carried out using social work methods and techniques to meet the subjects’ needs for improved social interaction, professional guidance, varied sports activities, and learning about health management.Through six themed group activities,we were able to help the participants overcome difficulties in their physical exercise routines, establish a social support system, and learn scientific knowledge and skills related to exercise and health management, thereby better engaging in physical exercise.Following these activities,an assessment of the group activity and social work intervention outcomes was performed, leading to our final conclusions. We then reflected on the theoretical application and intervention process and proposed corresponding suggestions. It is our hope that these experiences and suggestions will provide valuable references and insights for union organizations.
