With the rapid development of urbanization, many rural schools are facing the fate of being surrounded by various crises and being removed and merged. This study attempts to make a case study of a rural school that has turned from crisis to prosperity, find out the reasons for the breakthrough of rural weak schools, analyze the internal mechanism of the leapfrog development of rural weak schools from a small point of view, and provide referential suggestions for the development of rural education in China. This study is exemplified by the Q secondary school,a typical rural school located far from urban areas.Drawing on the theory of ecology, this study comprehensively uses a variety of research methods, such as literature research method, historical research method, interview method, and observation method,to investigate and analyze the ecological dilemma and the synapses of secondary school in Q.The study found that Q Middle School was initially faced with external ecological difficulties such as the complexity of the natural environment, the accumulation of social environment, the contradiction of human environment, and internal ecological difficulties such as the decline of organizational ecology, the deviation of leadership ecology, and the contradiction of cultural ecology. The final breakthrough of Q Middle School is the combination of external "other" forces and internal "self".It not only relies on the help of external social forces such as the government and villages, but also relies on the guidance of the headmaster, the transformation of the school’s own management, organization and culture, which provides the fundamental impetus for the breakthrough of rural schools.Based on the successful breakthrough experience of Q Middle School, this study proposes that the development leadership of rural schools lies in cultivating excellent principals and consolidating the foundation of school leadership; The prerequisite for the development of rural schools is to seek external support and improve the school management ecology; The key to the development of rural schools is to leverage their advantages and achieve a shift in school ecology; The driving force for the development of rural schools lies in endogenous transformation, which promotes the ecological development of schools.
