| In the digital era,the importance of parental mediation has become increasingly important as negative online content infringes on the physical and mental health of junior high school students.A review of the literature reveals that the current discussion on parental online supervision mainly analyzes the effects produced by parental online supervisory behaviors from the perspective of quantitative studies. Not only that, but there is a paucity of discussion on the choice of research subjects for the specific family context of the families of urban junior high school students. Therefore, based on the existing findings, this paper focuses the analysis of parental mediation behaviors on the field of online media intervention. The study sought to analyze the mechanism of mediation behavior in urban middle school families in the Digital era.The data collected from the interviews were conceptualized and refined through a threelevel coding approach of rooted theory, and a framework of the occurrence mechanism of parental mediation behavior in urban middle school families was finally obtained. The study found that "external social pressure" and "internal needs for growth and success"together constitute the motivational stages of the occurrence mechanism, and "root cause avoidance intervention","technological mediation",and "technological mediation" are the main factors,"technical mediation,"co-viewing-inspired mediation," "intentional mediation," and "third-party verbal restraint mediation." The "third-party verbal restraint mediation" occurs when parents are unable to intervene in a timely manner and is an adjunct, while the "inattentive permissive mediation" occurs when Parents do not impose any restrictions on their children’s media use and are not involved in media intervention. The results of the discussion section of the study show that in the motivation stage.academic performance is the main starting point compared to factors such as the online environment;in the implementation stage, the family environment and parents’ online media literacy together constitute the intervention dilemma. Finally,in order to improve the mediation skills of parents of junior high school students,on the one hand, parents should be provided with multiple learning channels to improve parental meditation skills;on the other hand, parents should change their mindset, actively engage in parent-child interactions and choose appropriate intervention strategies by reflecting on their own mediation intervention. |
