| Children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD)have severe problem behaviors due to their congenital impairments in social interaction and communication, which make parenting a challenging process for families. This study examines parenting stress and problem behaviors of children with ASD as research topics, and explores changes in problem behaviors of children with ASD from survey research and case intervention studies, respectively,by means of empirical research. The purpose of the study was to analyze the level of parenting stress and family parenting style characteristics of parents of children with ASD,to explore the relationship between parenting stress and problem behaviors of children with ASD,and to provide parents of children with ASD with positive behavior support theory as a background for the status of parenting stress and family parenting style of parents of children with ASD,and for the researcher to provide The researcher provides professional support to parents of children with ASD in parental involvement counseling, helps parents improve their parenting stress levels, subjective feelings and behavioral management, conducts family interventions for specific problem behaviors of children with ASD,explores the effects of parental involvement counseling training on the improvement and maintenance of problem behaviors of children with ASD,provides reasonable and effective family intervention cases for parents of children with ASD,and reduces parental In this way,we propose effective measures to alleviate family parenting for parents of children with ASD,to help families with children with ASD who are struggling with problem behaviors, and to promote the acquisition of socially adaptive behaviors by children with ASD to maximize their integration into mainstream society. In the two-part study,Study 1 mainly used a questionnaire to investigate the relationship between parental stress and problem behaviors of 249 parents of children with ASD,so as to obtain the overall status of parental stress and problem behaviors of children with ASD,and further explore the correlation and influence mechanism between parental stress and problem behaviors of children with ASD in parents of children with ASD.The correlation and influence mechanism between parental stress and problem behaviors of children with ASD were further explored, and the mediating effect test was conducted on this basis. In Study 2,two children with ASD and their parents were used as study subjects to collect case study data through observations and interviews, and to analyze the links between the antecedents and consequences of the problem behaviors of the cases in order to determine the functions that produce the problem behaviors. An experimental design was used to conduct a four-month study in which parental involvement counseling was used to develop a family intervention training program for the cases in response to their problem behaviors, and to guide the parents in family interventions for the cases’ problem behaviors.Changes in parenting stress, family parenting style and problem behaviors of children with ASD were analyzed before and after the intervention. Finally, the results of the study were synthesized and analyzed, and educational recommendations for parents of children with ASD in the parenting process were purposefully proposed. The main conclusions of this study are as follows.(1)There were significant differences in problem behaviors of children with ASD with respect to in terms of parental education and number of children in the family;the lower the parental education level, the less pro-social behaviors of children with ASD;the lower the number of children in the family, the more pro-social behaviors of children with ASD.The difference in the number of children in the family on the part of problem behavior difficulties of children with ASD was mainly in emotional symptoms and hyperactivity and inability to pay attention. There were no significant differences in problem behaviors of children with ASDby gender, home living environment, parental care, and whether parents attended knowledge sessions for children with ASD.(2)Parents of children with ASD had very high overall parenting stress scores, with scores ranging from high to low for difficult child, parenting distress, and dysfunctional parent-child interaction;and scores ranging from high to low for family parenting styles of children with ASD were emotional warmth, overprotection, and rejection.(3)The total parenting stress score and each dimension were significantly and positively correlated with the difficult part of problem behaviors of children with ASD,the rejection dimension of family parenting style was significantly and positively correlated with the difficult part of problem behaviors of children with ASD,and the overprotective dimension of family parenting style was significantly and positively correlated with the difficult part of problem behaviors of children with ASD.(4)Total parenting stress score was significantly and positively related to rejection and overprotection;parenting sadness was significantly and positively related to rejection and overprotection;parent-child interaction dysfunction was significantly and positively related to rejection, negatively related to emotional warmth and positively related to overprotection;difficult children were significantly and positively related to rejection and positively related to overprotection.(5)Parental stress not only directly influenced the problem behavior difficulties of children with ASD,but also indirectly influenced the problem behavior difficulties of children with ASD through the overprotective and rejection dimensions of family parenting style,i.e.,the overprotective and rejection dimensions of family parenting style played a part in the problem behavior difficulties of children with ASD.The mediating effect of overprotection accounted for 38.20% of the total effect and the mediating effect of rejection accounted for 25.31% of the total effect.(6)Parental involvement in counseling can effectively reduce parenting stress and improve parenting styles in families of children with ASD.(7)Parental involvement counseling can effectively improve problem behaviors of children with ASD with maintenance and generalization effects. |
