The feminist movement and societal attention towards women have made women a subject of various studies.With the awakening of women’s self-awareness,women have gradually entered into the socioeconomic sphere and participated in social production activities.As the government’s ear and mouthpiece,news media also serve as a window for the public to understand the world.As the official media of China News Network,China News Network plays an important role in reporting both domestically and internationally,and its coverage of professional women highlights a certain degree of communicative value.The present study focuses on professional women,defined as females who engage in social production activities.Specifically,it investigates the media image of professional women on China News Network from 2017 to 2021,using content analysis and text analysis to explore the phenomenon in both quantitative and qualitative dimensions.The data collection process involved utilizing the Python programming language to gather news samples relating to professional women on China News Network.The analysis primarily centered on examining occupational distribution,number of reports,report length,and report format,revealing that China News Network mainly employs reports with a length of 800-3000 words,primarily in textual form,and concentrates on the media,business management,and legal and political affairs industries with the number of reports affected by International Women’s Day and pandemic timelines.The study also employed framework theory to analyze the themes,columns,news sources,report genres,reporting positions,and referred object types of the research samples.Results showed that China News Network favored central media outlets as sources and prioritized news,commentary,and correspondence genres.The reports frequently featured typical professional women,aiming to create a cognitive classification based on social news.Furthermore,a portion of the samples were manually extracted for title and text analysis,exploring China News Network’s emotional attitudes and discourse tendencies when reporting on professional women.The study identified four key angles in constructing the media image of professional women,including transcendent independent women,dedicated women with a love for their work,outstanding women with exceptional abilities,and balance regulators in role conflicts.Lastly,the study delved into the factors that affect the media image of professional women,offering a pathway for audiences to understand the media image of professional women.China News Network pays attention to the social value of professional women and conveys the concept of gender equality.However,the image of a professional woman shaped his relatively single.At the same time,on the basis of ensuring in-depth reporting,it can absorb new media forms such as videos and pictures,focusing on the presentation of professional women’s self-perspectives.This study hopes that through the analysis of the news reports of professional women in China News Network,it will be used to replenish the research on professional female media image,call on the society to pay attention to its rights and interests as an independent individual,promote the expression of individual consciousness in the process of modernization,balanced professional women’s public domain The dual value of the private field will help build a professional female media image with the spread of media represented by China News Network,and establish a good understanding and evaluation of professional women’s groups.
