The emotional mechanism of online public opinions refers to how emotional factors play a role in the occurrence of online public opinions and what impact they will have.During the COVID-19 epidemic,the polarization of online public opinion has emerged in an endless stream.Taking this topic as the object of discussion,the role of emotional mechanism in the process of online public opinion polarization is deeply analyzed.Taking three typical cases of public opinion polarization on Sina Weibo during the COVID-19 epidemic,including the pneumonia outbreak of novel coronavirus in Wuhan and other places,the seafood market in South China that is not the origin of the novel coronavirus,and the death of children from gas poisoning in Lanzhou,This paper analyzes the role of emotional factors in online public opinion polarization by applying the theoretical basis and general idea of online public opinion polarization and emotion mechanism,as well as the relevant knowledge of emotion psychology and emotion sociology.It is found that the emotional mechanism in the process of online public opinion polarization mainly includes four aspects: first,the polarization characteristics of emergencies in the real world;Second,the Internet participates in individual emotional selection;Thirdly,the characteristics of invisibility and anonymity in the process of Internet expression aggravate the emotional output of participants;Fourth,individual emotional selection is easy to cause the formation of emotional cocoon.The corresponding solutions also include four aspects: first,strengthen social regulation to prevent extreme events from happening,and fundamentally cut off the possibility of public opinion polarization;The second is to improve the rational analysis ability of Internet participants.Compared with the higher education level,the stronger rational analysis ability will be shown.Therefore,improving the cognitive level of Internet participants will reduce the emotionalized expression index to some extent.Third,we will promote the real-name application of Internet entities.Although the Internet world presents the characteristics of anonymity in the process of information exchange,real-name comments are helpful to effectively guide the sound development of public opinion for the control of major events.Four is the regulatory algorithm recommended to break the emotional cocoon room.
