As a major part of the core quality of physics,scientific inquiry affects students’ interest and acquisition of physics and plays a great role in their lifelong development.In order to implement the new requirements on scientific inquiry put forward in the Physics Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education issued by the Ministry of Education in 2022,this paper adopts outdoor physics teaching to cultivate students’ scientific inquiry ability and improve their comprehensive literacy.Outdoor physics teaching is an emerging teaching method.Its rich outdoor scenes provide students with a large number of observation materials,provide students with a good experimental place,provide students with a platform for communication and cooperation,and promote the improvement of students’ scientific inquiry ability.First of all,based on the research status of outdoor teaching at home and abroad,this paper sorts out the outdoor teaching research results,and studies the significance and teaching practice of outdoor physics teaching.Taking Bruner’s "discovery learning",Dewey’s "learning by doing",David Cooper’s "experiential education" and Piaget’s "constructivism" as the theoretical basis of outdoor physics teaching,this paper explores the teaching practice of outdoor physics experiment enabling junior high school students to carry out physical scientific inquiry.Secondly,based on the four elements of scientific inquiry ability,student questionnaire and teacher interview outline are prepared to investigate the status quo of students’ scientific inquiry ability and teachers’ opinions and suggestions on outdoor teaching respectively.Combining the survey conclusions with the requirements of students’ scientific inquiry in the physics curriculum standards,the teaching strategy of cultivating students’ scientific inquiry ability in outdoor physics experiment teaching is designed.Finally,on the basis of textbook knowledge,three outdoor physics experiment teaching cases are designed,and students are led to carry out outdoor physics experiment teaching.With the four main elements of scientific inquiry ability as the core,the evaluation criteria are developed,and the students’ scientific inquiry ability is quantitatively analyzed.Teachers timely feedback the scoring results,and targeted training students’ scientific inquiry ability.Through the performance and results of students’ participation in outdoor experiments,as well as the situation presented in the questionnaire before and after the outdoor experiments,it can be seen that after many outdoor physics experiments,students’ ability to find problems has been improved,their ability to search for evidence has been exercised,they have gradually mastered the scientific inquiry method,and their ability to conclude,summarize,reflect and evaluate has been strengthened,and they have realized the importance of the group and paid attention to the experiment process During the communication and cooperation with team members,students’ individual scientific inquiry ability has been improved.
