The progress of the ages and technology has not only promoted the rapid development of the field of cartoons, but also provided convenience for children to contact cartoons, and contemporary children’s contact with information media cartoons is increasing, and the anthropomorphic animals, things and supernatural content in cartoons have an important impact on children’s development. At present, the relationship between cartoons and children’s executive function has become an important theme of researchers’ concern, but there are differences and controversies in related research, especially the relationship between fantasy and executive function of cartoons, some studies have shown that the fantasy of cartoons has a negative impact on children’s executive function, but some studies have shown that the fantasy of cartoons has a positive effect on children’s executive function development.Starting from cognitive load theory and limited information processing theory, this study tends to support the negative impact of cartoon fantasy on children’s executive function, but this effect will change with the increase of cartoon content familiarity,so this study first verifies the negative impact of cartoon fantasy on executive function on the basis of standardizing animation experimental materials, and then introduces cartoon familiarity variables to explore whether it changes the negative impact of cartoon fantasy on executive function,so as to clarify the relevant research differences.Provide effective guidance for children’s cartoon viewing. This study was divided into two experimental studies, one of which was based on further improving the experimental materials, taking into account the trend of younger age in children’s cartoon viewing, expanding the research subjects from 4-7 years old to3-6 years old in previous studies,re-verifying the effect of fantasy of cartoons on children’s executive function, and exploring the differences in the academic stages of this effect.Using the two-factor experimental design of 3(fantasy level of cartoons:high, medium, low)× 3(grade: kindergarten, middle class, and small class),81 children were selected as experimental participants. The classic executive function task paradigm was used to test children’s executive function before and after.Based on Study1,Study 2 introduced the variable of children’s familiarity with cartoons to investigate whether children’s familiarity with cartoons could change the negative impact of fantasy of cartoons on children’s executive functions.150 children were selected as experimental participants in the three-factor experimental design of 3(fantasy level of cartoons: high,medium,low),×2(children’s familiarity with cartoons: high,low)×3(grades: kindergarten, middle class, and kindergarten). The study concluded that:(1)the fantasistic nature of cartoons had a negative impact on the executive function of children, the higher the level of fantasy, the greater the negative impact on the executive function of children;(2)There is an interaction between cartoon fantasy and grade, and the lower the child’s grade, the greater the negative impact of cartoon fantasy on executive function;(3)There is an interaction between familiarity and fantasy, and in the case of high familiarity of cartoons, the negative impact of cartoon fantasy on executive function is not significant, and the fantasy of cartoons has a great negative impact on executive function in the case of low familiarity.Based on the results of this study, the following educational suggestions are proposed: The first is to choose cartoons with a moderate level of fantasy according to the existing level of cognitive development of children;Second, parents should become active guides for children to watch cartoons and improve children’s familiarity with cartoons;Third, kindergarten and kindergarten children should be given more guidance when watching cartoons;Fourth, cartoons suitable for children’s school development should be created.
