| With the development of the economy and curriculum reform, the ability to use mathematics to solve problems is becoming more and more important,so mathematical modeling is also paid more and more attention. The Mathematics Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)lists model concept as one of the nine core competencies in junior high school, which shows that it is very important to cultivate the mathematical modeling ability of junior high school students. In this study, the seventh-grade students of a school in Aral City, the First Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps were used as the research objects to investigate the current situation of mathematical modeling ability.Firstly, through the combing of literature, the definition of mathematical modeling, mathematical model and mathematical modeling ability is sorted out,and the standards for the classification of mathematical modeling ability level, the research status at home and abroad are listed, and the theoretical basis and research framework are provided for the investigation of the current situation of mathematical modeling ability of seventh grade students.Secondly, through the literature of researchers, the author’s internship experience, and the suggestions of tutors inside and outside the school,a questionnaire for seventh-grade students and teachers,an interview outline, and a test questionnaire for seventh-grade students were compiled. Then, the questionnaire was issued, collected and processed and analyzed by Excel and SPSS,and the current situation of mathematical modeling ability of seventh grade students and related conclusions were obtained:(1)Students have less understanding of mathematical modeling, and parents and schools do not attach much importance to students’ learning of mathematical modeling.(2)Teachers can realize the importance of mathematical modeling, but the contact with mathematical modeling and the attention to students’ mathematical modeling training are not high, and they often use experience teaching.(3)Students are interested in mathematics but are not willing to participate in competitions for applied mathematics problems.(4)The mathematical modeling ability of seventh grade students was not high overall, and there was no significant difference in gender. Finally, through the analysis of the conclusions and the content of the interview,it is found that students’ psychological burden, students’ interest, students’ mathematical ability, teachers’ penetration of mathematical modeling, teachers’ teaching methods, and the importance of schools and parents are the reasons affecting the mathematical modeling ability of seventh-grade students. This thesis then gives corresponding strategies, including: learning mathematical modeling methods, overcoming psychological burden, and building confidence;Close connection with life and increase interest in mathematical modeling;Review and consolidate to improve the basic knowledge and basic ability of mathematics;timely penetration of mathematical modeling related knowledge;Adopt the teaching method of individual inquiry first, group cooperative inquiry and group explanation;Set mathematical modeling problems into multiple sub-problems;Understand students’ learning at home and pay attention to home-school cooperation;Provide opportunities and platforms for learning mathematical modeling;Organize mathematical modeling activities in non-examination format;Seek cooperation from other schools. Then, combined with the above strategies of students and teachers, two teaching cases are given for reference. This study investigates the current situation of mathematical modeling ability of seventh grade students, points out the problems of mathematical modeling of seventh grade students, analyzes the reasons affecting the mathematical modeling ability of seventh grade students, gives corresponding training strategies, improves and enriches the theories related to mathematical modeling ability, and provides a reference basis for the research of compulsory education of the XPCC. |
