The new 2022 edition of the mathematics curriculum standards re-emphasizes the importance of the early childhood-primary interface,suggesting that the design of learning in the elementary school curriculum for grades 1 to 2 should be based on the assessment of students’ developmental levels in the health,language,social,science,and art domains,and must focus on activity-based,playful,and life-based learning.The game teaching method,which happens to have the advantages of activity-based,game-based as well as life-based,adopts a fun and educational learning approach,complies with the requirements of the new curriculum standards,and is loved by students and recognized and supported by the majority of educators.The correct use of the game teaching method in teaching activities can enrich the teaching form,create a relaxing learning atmosphere,stimulate students’ enthusiasm and initiative,and make the teaching task completed easily and efficiently.However,the inappropriate use of game teaching method also brings some problems to teachers,making the use of game teaching method in a difficult situation.In order to solve these problems,this paper investigates the current situation of the game teaching method in lower elementary schools and finds out many problems that teachers still face when applying the game teaching method in lower elementary schools,such as teachers’ cognitive bias,lack of training and learning,deviation from teaching objectives,superficial forms,single forms of games,lack of practical innovation,and chaotic classroom order,which affects teaching tasks.Subsequently,the study found that the backward concept of teaching methods,unclear control of teaching objectives,lack of teaching design ability and insufficient classroom control ability are the main reasons for the above problems.To address the above problems,this paper suggests that teachers need to pay attention to the principles of target,organization,intellectuality,living and innovation when using game teaching method.In addition,to help teachers use game teaching method correctly,this paper also puts forward five targeted improvement strategies: establish the right concept,actively learn to change,grasp the teaching objectives,reasonably design the teaching content,develop rules and regulations,provide timely feedback and evaluation,focus on students,base on life reality,strengthen practical exercises,and timely summary and reflection.
