| Data from the seventh national census showed that the sex ratio of the total population(100 females, male to female)was 105.07,with women accounting for "half" of the country’s total population. At the same time, the proportion of people aged 60 or above reached 18.70%,up 5.44% from 2010;The number of people aged65 and above also rose by 4.63 percent, indicating that the aging population is becoming increasingly serious.Under the realistic environment of demographic change,it is imperative to release the "gender dividend".The so-called "gender dividend" means to improve women’s labor participation and social participation by realizing gender equality,so as to give full play to the new benefits produced by the neglected value of women. On the other hand, the uncertainty of female identity and the multiple role conflicts faced by women under the traditional gender norms restrict the play of female potential. In line with the lofty position of realizing the common development of mankind and promoting the sustainable development of economy and society, the research topic of this study is defined as the dilemma of female identity. As an ancient folk birth custom,"sending porridge and rice" is popular in the vast areas of the Yangtze River,Yellow River and Huaihe River basins. Its original meaning is to celebrate the joy of birth. The reason why I choose the custom of "sending porridge rice",which seems to contain family celebrations,to study the dilemma of female identity,is that in the custom of "sending porridge rice",the three main roles are all women, corresponding to the three different identities of "maternity","mother-in-law" and "mother" respectively, which provides a very representative research object for the study of female identity dilemma.Secondly, the research on female identity dilemma is not a simple problem of a single dimension. As a holistic custom,"sending rice porridge" can focus on the private reproductive behaviors of husband and wife, children and so on,and extend to the exchange of human relations in family villages and the kinship between the parents’ families. It can also place the family in the society. The motherhood penalty that comes with childbearing intertwines the public and private spheres of work and family.Based on this, this study takes the custom of "sending rice porridge" as a perspective to study women’s identity dilemma.By analyzing the whole process of "sending rice porridge",it explores women’s identity belonging under the tension of their husband’s family and mother’s family and their self-identification of their new identity. In terms of the structure of the article, the process of "sending rice porridge" is the context of the article, which is divided into five chapters to discuss the dilemma of female identity. One to three chapters detailed the specific links from the birth of a new mother to her parents’ family, and then to her husband’s family to celebrate the celebration together.Through the different symbols at the time of the celebration, the preparation of gifts and gold noodles at the time of the celebration, and the scale of the celebration banquet at the time of the celebration, each link of the mother-in-law’s family’s identity for women runs through them. The fourth chapter returns to the female subject itself. In the process of "becoming a mother",women are undergoing constant reconstruction and adjustment from physiology to psychology, from family relations to interpersonal communication, and from the private sphere to the public sphere. The fifth chapter looks into the future.Under the realistic conditions of population structure and economic and social development taking on a new appearance, the author intends to discuss the possibility of reconstructing female identity from two dimensions of macro environment and daily life practice. The research shows that in the whole custom of "sending rice porridge",the identity dilemma runs through from the identity belonging to the mother’s family to that of her husband’s family,as well as the identity construction from the private domain of the family to the public domain. On the surface, family structure and kinship restrict women’s identity in their parents’ family and in-laws’ family, and the deeper cause of women’s dilemma lies in the rigid gender role and division of labor structure. On the other hand,in the long term discipline, women internalize the traditional role norms and identify with this unequal identity. |
