A Practical Study On The Implementation Of Meal Assistance Services For The Elderly In Difficult Situations In Poverty Alleviation Relocation Communities Through Group Work Interventio

Relocation for poverty alleviation is an important measure to achieve common prosperity and improve people’s quality of life.The children of most of the elderly in the relocated communities have been migrant workers for a long time,and the elderly lack care for their daily lives;The elderly who have no children lack care and companionship in life and face greater life difficulties.With the increase of age,the problem of mobility problems of the elderly is becoming more and more serious,and these elderly people generally have the problem of "difficulty in cooking and eating" in their lives.In order to solve the problem of "difficulty in cooking and eating" for the elderly in distress in relocating communities,and improve the happiness and sense of achievement of the elderly in difficulty.In May 2022,the W Public Service Center launched a meal assistance service in the H community of relocation poverty alleviation in Guizhou Province,and built an elderly canteen that provides meal assistance services for the elderly in distress in the community.In the process of data collection,it was found that although the development of meal assistance in this community meets the basic meal needs of the elderly in difficulty,there are still some problems that need to be solved in order to bring a better meal assistance experience to the elderly in difficulty.Taking the interview method and participatory observation method as the main data collection methods,this paper investigates the implementation of H community meal assistance services,and finds that three problems are more prominent: first,the personalized meal assistance needs of the assisted elderly are neglected,the service facilities are incomplete,and the quality of meal assistance services is low;Second,the community resource base is weak,and the linkage of volunteer resources in meal assistance services is insufficient;Third,the supply of meal assistance staff is insufficient,and the food assistance service is inefficient.In response to the above problems,social workers clarified the three contexts,and under the guidance of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs,empowerment theory,and social learning theory,carried out group activities to cultivate volunteer organizations,recruited community residents as meal volunteers,and gradually improved the level of volunteer meal service from many aspects such as leading group members to "understand what volunteers are,share volunteer experiences,learn communication skills,and understand emergencies".Studies have shown that group work has been effective in the implementation of meal services.Through the cultivation of meal volunteer organizations,the shortage of meal assistance staff has been effectively alleviated,and service efficiency and service quality have been improved.At the same time,the intervention of social workers not only makes the meal service more professional,meets the needs of the elderly in difficulty in community H,but also innovates the way of community governance,more effectively promotes the linkage of community volunteers,social organizations and social workers,and lays a foundation for promoting the better implementation of meal assistance services in community H.However,it is worth reflecting on the fact that there are also many shortcomings in the practical development,such as the insufficient use of theoretical knowledge in the practical process,and the lack of attention to the different characteristics of team members,which have provided me with experience guidance for future practical development.
