| In this study,847 students in grade one, grade two and grade three of XX Middle School of Tongyu County,Jilin Province were studied.Self-esteem scale, academic self-efficacy scale and self-compiled questionnaire were used to collect research data. The data were analyzed in detail by means of literature, questionnaire and mathematical statistics(including difference test, correspondence analysis, classification and regression tree model(CART model)and multiple linear regression). Finally, this study explored individual characteristic factors affecting self-esteem and academic selfefficacy of junior high school students, and further determined the relative contribution of self-esteem and academic self-efficacy to the academic performance,so as to provide a certain reference for teachers and parents to improve students’ academic performance. At this stage, the following conclusions are drawn:1.Parents’ income, parents’ highest education level, parents’ marital status, teachers’ praise and the number of close friends all affect the self-esteem level of junior middle school students. However, the most important factors were parents’ income, the number of close friends they had,and the level of praise they received from teachers.2.Parents’ income, parents’ highest educational background, parents’ marital status, parents’ accompanying degree, teachers’ praising degree and the number of close friends may affect junior middle school students’ academic self-efficacy.However,the characteristic variables that are significantly related to the academic self-efficacy include the degree of teacher’s praise, the highest educational background of parents, the degree of parents’ accompanying study and the income of parents.3.Based on the results of difference test, correspondence analysis and multiple regression models, this study believes that the academic performance of junior high school students is mainly affected by academic self-efficacy,self-esteem,the degree of parents’ accompanying learning and the degree of teacher’s praise.Among these four factors, academic self-efficacy is the most important.4.This study believes that when parents spend more time accompanying their children to study and teachers provide more support to students, junior high school students’ academic self-efficacy will be significantly improved, thus effectively improving their academic performance. |
