| Since entering the aging society in 2000,China’s population has been rapidly aging,and the decrease in fertility rate and the increase in life expectancy will make the aging problem more serious,which will have a profound impact on the upgrading of China’s industrial structure and economic development.In the information age,the digital economy will empower traditional industries,reduce their impact on the reduction of labor force caused by aging population,and radiate new vitality.The structure of this article is as follows: Firstly,this article defines relevant concepts,introduces relevant theories,and describes the current development status of the digital economy,population aging,and industrial structure;Secondly,after organizing domestic and foreign literature,this article delves into the relationship and transmission mechanism between population aging and industrial structure upgrading in the context of the development of the digital economy.It is believed that the digital economy will affect the effect of population aging on industrial structure upgrading;Here,this paper uses panel data from 30 provinces in China,and uses a series of empirical methods such as basic regression,mesomeric effect,threshold test and spatial econometric model to test the hypothesis;Finally,this article draws conclusions and provides recommendations based on the test results.Based on theoretical analysis and empirical research,this paper draws the following conclusions:(1)Population aging will significantly promote the upgrading of industrial structure,which is still valid after the robustness test;(2)In the four major regions of the country,the conclusion that population aging promotes the upgrading of industrial structure is generally valid,but the degree of promoting effect varies.The eastern region has the smallest impact of population aging on the upgrading of industrial structure;(3)The proportion of consumption expenditure on traditional Chinese medicine plays a mediating role in the process of population aging promoting industrial structure upgrading;(4)The urbanization rate plays a threshold role in the process of population aging promoting industrial structure upgrading.When the urbanization rate crosses the threshold,the regression coefficient significantly increases;(5)The global Moran index of the degree of advanced industrial structure and population aging is positive,and population aging and industrial structure upgrading show significant positive spatial spillover effects.The research in this article provides a new explanation for the promotion of industrial structure upgrading by population aging,revealing that the digital economy can play a transmitting role in the process of population aging promoting industrial structure upgrading,which may have a certain enlightening effect on promoting industrial structure upgrading in the new era. |
