| With the intensification of competition in education and the reform of the education system,more and more labor families are choosing to company their children to school.Under the combined effect of social motherhood norms and the gender division of labor in the family,mothers company students has become mainstream.Focusing on their practical experience of motherhood plays an important role in our understanding of nurturing issues in today’s society and improving the educational support system.Therefore,from the perspective of subjectivity,this article uses the interview and participant observation method to study the students’ companying mothers’ group in County D of Sichuan Province,and to analyze the group’s escorting practices and their reconfiguration of motherhood.The article focuses on exploring the subjective practices of laboring mothers in the context of dual motherhood norms and attempts to explain the mechanisms of motherhood reconstruction in this process.The study finds that: Firstly,under the constraints of the dual structure of labor and care work,students’ companying mothers in labor families practice motherhood by coordinating their living time,participating in educational supervision and participating in group solidarity.Secondly,between housework,work,and children’s education,students’ companying mothers reconstruct their maternal identities by shifting responsibilities and empowering self-value.Thirdly,out of the common concern for their children’s education and private parenting dilemmas,the students’ companying mothers have relied on the resources of public platforms to carry out a series of mutual support activities for parent groups,providing new insights into the construction of a social co-parenting system. |
