With the wide application of 5G network and the promotion of 5G application scenarios,the demand for 5G network will be increasing in the future.The traditional macro base station has the disadvantages of large area and high cost,which can not meet the requirements of 5G network.The distributed small base station has the advantages of closer to users,flexible networking,low cost,and can be flexibly arranged indoors or outdoors.In the future,5G network combined with distributed small base station will have more and more technical requirements.The distributed small base station is composed of BBU(baseband processing unit)and RRU(radio frequency remote unit)and connected by optical fiber.Fronthaul is the data transmission channel between BBU and RRU.The fronthaul interface undertakes the communication task of 5G forward channel with high data flux.It is urgent to design a high-performance fronthaul interface processor to process the data of forward communication.The research goal of this paper is to achieve real-time 25 Gbps line speed processing in the process of designing the fronthaul optical network protocol processor between 5G BBU and RRU.At present,the design of 5G forward interface protocol processor is mostly realized by non programmable ASIC module,the flexibility of ASIC design is too slow to meet the forward and backward compatibility and continuous upgrade of 5G forward interface protocol framework forward compatibility and continuous upgrading expansion;the design based on FPGA has high cost,large power consumption.Therefore,it is necessary to provide programmable and flexible design for 5G fronthaul optical network protocol processor.In this paper,we analyze e CPRI and CPRI.Based on the 64-bit processing width,We propose a programmable ASIP instruction set and architecture,which is suitable for the fronthaul network interface processor between BBU and RRU.In this paper,VLIW is adopted to deal with concurrent job processing,and the processing rate and data flux of 5G fronthaul interface are improved by 6-level pipeline,and then the high-speed real-time processing of e CPRI protocol and CPRI protocol is realized.In addition,on the basis of this processor,we explore the hardware architecture of IWF(e CPRI / CPRI interworking function),and realize the interactive communication between e CPRI protocol and CPRI protocol.
