E-commerce,with its advantages of low cost, large flow and convenience, has gradually penetrated into all parts of the world, not only changing the way we shop, but also deepening the exchanges and trade between people of all countries.Especially during the epidemic, due to various reasons, the traditional trade model is limited, but cross-border e-commerce has ushered in better development opportunities. Therefore, the author would like to discuss the impact of cross-border e-commerce on import and export trade in this context. On the one hand, the choice of this topic stems from the author’s favorite major and research interest in the topic; On the other hand, the study of this topic can enrich the theory of international trade, thus give some suggestions for the practice of cross-border e-commerce in China.First of all,the author collected and sorted out the relevant literature, and based on the research of domestic and foreign scholars, outlined the whole research framework of the article, and defined and divided the connotation of the basic concepts. It also provides theoretical basis for the paper from the basic theories, including cost theory, agglomeration economic theory, trade intermediary theory and trade facilitation theory.Secondly, the author collected and sorted out data from the website of the National Bureau of Statistics as well as authoritative websites at home and abroad, and analyzed the development status of cross-border e-commerce in China and the world with the data. The gravity model of trade is an authoritative research method widely applicable to the analysis of the import and export volume of cross-border e-commerce.Therefore,based on previous research experience, the author takes the total import and export volume of cross-border e-commerce(CBED)as the core explanatory variable and introduces GDP,population and tariff level as control variables.Through the empirical analysis of the relevant data of 38 cross-border e-commerce trading countries in China from 2010 to 2019,the analysis is made from each country’s total import and export trade volume. The result obtained is that for every 1 unit increase in the scale of crossborder e-commerce trade,it will promote a 1 8.4%increase in total import and export trade volume. Therefore, promoting the scale of cross-border e-commerce trade is of great significance to the increase of China’s total trade. At the end of this paper,I put forward suggestions and opinions from three parts:policy, trade and e-commerce,in order to provide some reference for the sustainable development of China’s international trade.
