| An accurate grasp of the connotation of the concept and its evolution is the basis for scientific research on the concept,and reflection on the problems of existing research is necessary to improve subsequent research.The repeated murmuring of "’Post-Truth’ as the word of the year" in the field of journalism and communication at domestic and international has fabricated it as a "myth",hiding the fact that the connotation of this concept does not have the novelty and validity that an academic concept should have,obscuring the diverse meaning of this term,and conceals the process of discursive power in the process of its academicization.In order to break the shackles of the mainstream narrative,this paper takes Liu Hailong’s "dialectic of continuous-rupture" as the method,and based on Said’s "theoretical travel" and Liu He’s "interlanguage practice" theory,the four stages of "post-truth" concept: generation,development,travel and local practice are delineated.The generation stage compares a large number of early English texts with the mainstream discourse in the history of "post-truth" concept generation,and finds that the mainstream narrative does not reveal that it is firstly a moral commentary term rather than a specialized academic concept;secondly,the Whiggish perspective has nullified other connotations and weakened its profound ideology;finally,it is a pseudoproposition produced by intellectuals in collusion with the media as they try to regain the lost power of discourse.After analyzing the expressions of academic discourse by mapping the knowledge of relevant English studies with the help of Citespace tool,the development stage reveals that the English academia has re-collected this deconstructive "oddity" by capturing its sense of impact to constitute the meaning of the selected topic,and marginalizing and superficializing it in the discursive strategy.The lack of sufficient understanding of the discursive practices of this concept in the English world,and the fact that the country actually contributed to the theoretical travel of this concept into our academia because of the crisis in journalism and the rise of social media that China and the United States were jointly experiencing at that time,and the intensification of the conflict of interests between the two countries.In this context,the concept of "post-truth" has been used by scholars as a "discursive resource for international political struggle," "a new look at the social significance of technological evolution," and "a new context for advancing past research." and "new dynamics for debugging old concepts" in academic practice.Through deep reading of the literature,this paper finds that there are prominent problems in domestic "post-truth" research,such as fracture of the concept of truth,superficialization of problem awareness,internalization of the knowledge cycle,and subjectivization of value judgment,by combining the characteristics of the discipline and the current situation of research in the field.The relevant research should abandon the definition of "emotions over facts" and use "truth to give way" to define "posttruth" in order to ask the real problems.In particular,we need to reverse "social problems in communication" to "communication problems in society" in order to break through the barrier. |
