Infrared dim-small target detection technology is one of the key technologies in the passive infrared detection system,and infrared image preprocessing technology directly affects the weak small targets detection performance in the images.According to characteristic of complicated background and low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)in the infrared image,how the infrared dim small target can be reliably detected under SNR has become the more realistic and challenging research topics.Firstly this paper deeply researched the traditional infrared image preprocessing algorithm,and improved based on them;then taking FPGA as the platform,designed simulated and verified to the traditional mdian filter and HP filter ect pretreatment algorithm and the improved new algorithm of multi-angle Top-Hat and mixed filter ect.In the design process,through improving the algorithms,the processing speed of top module is largely improved.The full design and each module are logically synthesized and simulated on the Quartus II of Altera Corp.The result of synthesis and simulation indicated that the infrared image preprocessing based on FPGA can achieve a processed result and be suit for real-time image processing.It has a good foundation to targe detection in the later DSP.
