Narrative Logic And Positive&Negative Effects Of "Chicken Soup For The Soul" From The Perspective Of Positive Psychology

"Chicken Soup for the Soul" generally refers to a story or discourse fragment that contains wisdom,emotion,philosophy and "positive energy".Typically it is easy to lead to some deep thinking.Now,the widespread popularity of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" has raised many controversies,because of the so-called "fake positive energy" in some articles.Therefore,it is necessary to study the narrative logic of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" from the essence,and to objectively analyze the positive and negative effects on readers.This work aims to contribution to constructing a positive-energy society.Based on the above background,this study raises the following questions:What narrative logic does "Chicken Soup for the Soul" have within the framework of positive psychology?How does its narrative sense affect the construction of audience’s positive psychology?Based on the theoretical framework of positive psychology,what are the positive and negative impacts brought by "Chicken Soup for the Soul"?First,the research framework of positive psychology is utilized to analyze the discourse structure of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" from three aspects:positive emotion,positive personality and positive environment.Secondly,this thesis analyzes the narrative logic of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" by taking the article "Night Reading" on People’s Daily WeChat as an example.It constructs categories and analyzes the content of 317 sample articles.Thirdly,through analyzing 5241 WeChat comments and 15 in-depth interviews with readers,this paper studies the positive and negative effects of"Chicken Soup for the Soul".Studies have found that the narrative language of "Night Reading" is mainly soft expression and the presentation of "healing" language style.The narrative model includes effort model,positive mindset model,ability model and emotion model.The narrative motifs include national society motifs,interpersonal relations motifs and personal growth motifs.The positive effects of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" include satisfying emotional needs,promoting personality growth and accelerating positive energy transmission.The negative effects include antipathy,rebellion and fast-food culture.In the final part,there is some extended thinking and outlook on how to effectively realize the positive impact of "Chicken Soup for the Soul"as a conclusion.
