Luneberg lens antenna has the characteristics of high gain,low side lobes,simple antenna structure,and it is beneficial to radiate multiple beams.In this paper,related research work is carried out on the miniaturized high-gain Luneberg lens antenna in the Ka-band.Its main contents include:This paper starts from the research background of Luneberg lens antenna technology,and briefly expounds its basic working principle.In this paper,the specific principle and derivation process of using metamaterial theory and spherical wave function expansion method to analyze the radiation characteristics of layered primary lens are described in detail.Secondly,this paper studies two methods for realizing Luneberg lens antenna,including foaming process technology and metamaterial technology,and points out their advantages and disadvantages respectively.In order to achieve the ideal approximation of the dielectric constant of the lens antenna,this paper introduces the equivalent medium theory,and conducts modeling and simulation to verify its effectiveness.Third,in order to realize the high-gain and low-weight Luneberg lens antenna,this paper adopts the square waveguide antenna feed,and uses the metamaterial technology to construct the metamaterial Luneberg lens structure.And for the foam Luneberg lens,the optimization algorithm is used to optimize the design of the lens.The purpose of achieving high gain with a four-layer Luneberg lens antenna is achieved.Finally,the antenna performance of the designed metamaterial Luneberg lens antenna and the PMI foam Luenberg lens antenna are tested,and the test results of the PMI foam Luneberg lens antenna are in good agreement with the simulation results.The research results show that the layered Luneberg lens antenna based on PMI foam proposed in this paper can be applied in the field of aerospace communication.
