In recent years,China’s population aging has been moving from primary aging to super aging.The elderly population has become an important group of great concern from all walks of life.The main contradiction in our society has been transformed into a contradiction between the people’s growing need for a better life and unbalanced and inadequate development.The daily needs of the elderly group have risen from basic material needs to spiritual needs.More and more elderly people are looking for their daily pastime,and most of them have developed the habit of reading.The state has even put forward a cultural pension policy,and strives to make every elderly person enjoy the joy of reading.Under the cultural pension policy,public libraries,as social and public cultural service organizations,shoulder important social responsibilities and historical missions.During the 14 th Five-Year Plan period,the high-quality development of public libraries is mainly carried out with innovative cultural projects to benefit the people,the implementation of basic cultural service systems,and the promotion of socialized development.Based on this background,this paper clarifies the current situation and countermeasures of reading services for the elderly in public libraries from the perspective of cultural pension,and promotes public libraries to better provide reading services for elderly readers.Based on the cultural pension policy,through literature research and case analysis,the current research status at home and abroad is compared and analyzed,and the reading needs and psychological preferences of elderly readers who are always active,happy and old learned.At the same time,the author takes representative public libraries in Jilin Province as an example to visit provincial,municipal and county libraries in Jilin Province.The questionnaire survey and interview of the elderly readers in the library were carried out to obtain the attitude and opinions of the elderly group on the reading service of the existing elderly readers of the public library.On this basis,combined with the current situation of various regions in China,the author analyzes the shortcomings of the current public library hardware facilities,reading resources,portals,interlibrary services,institutional alliance,etc.,and puts forward optimization strategies such as improving the corresponding rules and regulations,strengthening hardware construction,changing service attitudes,and using new media on this basis,and promoting institutional alliance.
