In 2021,the word "Tangping",which often used to describe the body’s posture in public discourse suddenly exploded on the Internet,becoming a term of a cultural phenomenon that is characterized by the image of the mourning and paralysis,and the spiritual core of resisting struggle and rejecting competition.Subsequently,the mainstream media have issued articles to clarify their views,and the public also expressed their opinions on social media.The"Tangping" culture has aroused widespread discussion and persistent attention on the Internet where the buzzwords changed rapidly,and become a hot social issue for the public.The way the media constructed "Tangping" discourse affected the value judgment and behavior choice of the audience,and indirectly affected the growth of youth and the development of the nation.On the basis of reviewing the semantic transmutation of "Tangping" discourse,this paper analyzes the discourse strategies used by mainstream media and social media in constructing texts about it,and discusses the social motivations that lead to the discourse of "Tangping"and its counter-effect on social practice,in order to provide some reference for the media to better promote the establishment of the correct struggle values of the public.The paper takes the texts about "Tangping" in mainstream media and social media as the research object,and after screening,63 samples from Guangming Daily and China Youth Daily are used as representatives of the former,and 70 articles on the Douban and Zhihu platforms are used as valid samples for the latter.Using Fairclough’s three-dimensional discourse analysis theory as the research framework,combined with quantitative content analysis and in-depth interview,the following three levels of research are carried out on the samples.In the text dimension,the linguistic characteristics of the "Tangping" discourse in the two public opinion fields are analyzed in terms of vocabulary and metaphor.In the discursive dimension,through the quantitative statistics of information sources,reporting genres,emotional tendencies,problem attribution and solution,the construction ways of intertextuality,coherence and force of the two types of texts are investigated.In the social practice dimension,it discusses the deep social motivation of "Tangping" discourse and the remodeling effect of the two kinds of discourse on social practice.It is found that the mainstream media adopts the strategy of "over-lexicalization" and selects elite information sources to make a clear negative characterization of "Tangping",which is conducive to guiding the whole society to establish a correct consensus of struggle.However,its indiscriminate criticism of all kinds of "Tangping" forms and its neglect and avoidance of macro social problems in the attribution of "Tangping" phenomenon easily bring negative perceptions to the audience,resulting in antagonistic interpretation.While social media discourse defends itself through ways such as "ideological square" and "journey/sailing metaphor",and competes with official discourse,which complements another important perspective for the construction of issues and is more accessible to audiences.However,it is also easily lead to the spread of "Tangping" phenomenon and the stigmatization of struggle,which causes a wide range of infection of inertia psychology to young people and the whole society.
