Research On Media Use And Self-identity Construction Of Blind Box Fans

Taking the rapid development of blind box economy,the growing blind box fan group and the development of social media as the background,this study selects participatory observation method and in-depth interview method as the research method,takes the blind box fan group as the research object,investigates the changes and dilemmas of social life faced by the blind box fan group from the connotation of self-identity,and explores the self-identity construction of the blind box fan group in media use based on the two levels of self and collective.The study found that most of the blind box fans are mainly young people,and most of them have experienced changes such as the slump in the job market and being condemned for loving the blind box,which have affected the blind box fan group to varying degrees,and thus spawned their self-identity crisis.The blind box fan group can open its heart in social media through daily media use,use the blind box as a carrier to continuously carry out self-expression,ability display and self-reflection through media use,and obtain recognition from other members of the fan group by sharing content about the blind box.The media use of blind box fans can also help them find the group to which they belong in the network,so that they have the courage to face the "noise" from the outside world together,and further strengthen their own sense of group belonging and value acquisition through interaction,that is,the use of media can make the group complete the positive self-identity construction from the individual and collective levels.The self-identity crisis of the blind box fan group contains both the dilemma faced by the entire youth group and the misunderstanding experienced due to the love of the blind box.but through the use of different functions of social media to meet their individual needs,it is a cyclical and dynamic process that pushes the members of the group to self-reflect,understand and know themselves to lead to a more ideal self.Studying the media use and self-identity of blind box fans will help society treat blind box fans objectively and positively,and hope that this study can make people pay more attention to this niche group.
