Elements And Patterns Of Associated Public Opinion

In the theory and practice of public opinion analysis,the phenomenon of associated public opinion is quite evident.Linked public opinion deepens public opinion identification on the basis of public opinion aggregation,bringing about "secondary upsurge" and "repeated upsurge" of public opinion,and its influence is more profound and may even bring about non-traditional security risks.Therefore,the concept of associated public opinion and its sub-concepts such as secondary public opinion,derivative public opinion,resonant public opinion and series of public opinion have certain generality and relevance to the real issues in the Internet era.However,the existing studies in the academic field are still not rigorous enough in terms of the conceptual system of associated public opinion.In this paper,by building a case study database of 40 sets of cases on public opinion,and based on the case studies,we attempt to define the concept of associated public opinion and its sub-concepts in a precise manner,and clarify their conceptual scope and connotation.A content analysis of the case materials was also conducted to explore the elements and patterns of associated public opinion.It is found that the elements of associated public opinion include five types,namely,the emotional element,the object element,the content element,the cause element and the response element;accordingly,associated public opinion can be classified into five types according to the elements of associated public opinion,namely,emotional associated public opinion,directional associated public opinion,content associated public opinion,same-cause associated public opinion and same-appeal associated public opinion.Corresponding to the connotation of the concept,secondary public opinion,derivative public opinion,resonant public opinion and series of public opinion have their own association patterns and rules,and these association patterns have certain explanatory power for real cases.It is undeniable that public opinion is positively influential,but it is more likely to have negative effects.Therefore,it is necessary to understand the underlying causes of public opinion associations and pay attention to the conflicts behind them.
