In the current era of mobile Internet,the national reading habits are gradually changing,and the news APP has become an important channel for users to obtain news and information.At present,there are many problems in the news APP,such as the product interface is disorderly,the font size is improper,and the image text ratio is unreasonable,due to which the information in the interface is difficult to recognize and the transmission efficiency is low,causing a large burden on the user’s eyes,which leads to visual fatigue.Long term visual fatigue can cause myopia,red eye,glaucoma and other diseases,which have a long-term harmful impact on human health.There are many factors affecting visual fatigue.From the perspective of news APP reading,the interface design elements occupy an important part.This study focuses on the news APP interface design elements.Firstly,the news APP interface design elements were extracted based on interview and grounded theory;secondly,design elements with the highest impact on the reading experience were selected by PCA,namely font size and image number;finally,the effects of font size and picture number on visual fatigue(pupillary diameter changes),psychological visual fatigue(subjective score changes)and reading efficiency(task completion time)were studied through eye movement experiments.It is found that the effect of font size on physiological and psychological visual fatigue and reading efficiency is significant,and 20px is the best level;The number of pictures has a significant impact on psychological visual fatigue,and the best level is 5;the interaction effect between font size and picture number has a significant impact on physiological visual fatigue,and the best combination level is 20px-5,in which the image text ratio is 0.3.Based on the experimental index data of pupillary diameter,subjective score and task completion time,the evaluation model of news APP interface design was built with the strongly correlated indexes of physiological and psychological visual fatigue,providing method reference for the evaluation of similar interface design.Finally,based on the above research results,the news APP interface design practice is carried out for the four first level pages of "news","sharp review","audio visual" and "my",along with the corresponding extended pages in the "Lidu news" APP,in order to reduce the visual fatigue of users in the process of news APP reading and improve the user experience of news reading through the interface optimization design.
