Discourse Analysis Of "the Emotional Turn" Of WeChat Official Account "Capital News"

In traditional news production,the integration of emotions is often regarded as the existence of eliminating the objectivity of news reports.But in the current digital media era,emotion plays an increasingly important role in the production,transmission and consumption of news.The relationship between emotion and reason is not completely opposite.The co-construction of emotion and reason can stimulate the vitality of the news industry and enhance the dissemination effect of the report while maintaining the objectivity of the news,so as to further play the constructive role of the news report.“The emotional turn” is to break through the thinking that opposes emotion and rationality,and face up to the importance of emotional power participating in news practice.Based on Chang Jiang and Tian Hao’s description and explanation of the “emotional turn” process of journalism research in the digital age,this paper focuses on the discourse practice of the “Capital News” We Chat public account,and uses Fairclough’s three dimensional discourse analysis theory,discussing the discourse characteristics and constructive significance of “Capital News” in the aspect of emotional turn.In the text dimension of discourse analysis,research is mainly carried out from the level of vocabulary and text structure.This paper uses the NVivo qualitative analysis software text to analyze the word frequency,and finds that the “Capital News” focuses on social hotspots and meets users’ core information needs and emotional needs with authoritative “responses”;at the level of lexical metaphors,the media express affirmation or Negative emotional tendencies further enhance the vitality and interest of news texts.At the level of text structure,“Capital News” adopts the inverted pyramid structure to meet the reading habits of users.At the same time,it tries to raise the details of events to a prominent position for structural innovation,and realizes the good interaction between the presentation of facts and the excavation of emotions through the flexible arrangement of text structure.In the text dimension,“Capital News” not only pursues the presentation of authoritative and rational facts,but also is good at using lexical metaphor and ingenious arrangement of text structure to achieve the effect of integrating emotion and reason in news reporting.In the analysis of discourse practice dimension,“Capital News” adopts the strategy of highlighting contradictions and appropriately leaving blank in the title setting,separates “we”and “they” in the category of theme,and strengthens the emotional connection between news producers and news recipients.At the level of “clear intertextuality”,the “Capital News”gives full play to the initiative of news producers,integrates the media attitude into multiple voices,strengthens the emotional connection and interaction with the audience in the process of presenting facts,and shapes and strengthens the emotional community.At the level of discourse style,“Capital News” is rational without losing warmth,and is committed to establishing a continuous and deep-level emotional connection with the audience on the basis of meeting the core information needs of users.In the dimension of discourse practice,“Capital News” shows the positive significance of “emotional turn” discourse practice in shaping the emotional community in the setting of macro proposition and the application of intertextuality.At the level of social practice,this paper discusses the political function and market basis of the discourse practice of “emotional turn”,and finds that the “Capital News” integrates emotional connotation into political issues,strengthens the positive image of the government,and the discourse practice of “emotional turn” uses informal discourse to enhance the closeness of news reports,improve the persuasive effect of news reports,and maintain social stability and unity.The political function of news has been brought into better play.In addition,from the perspective of market,this paper explores the emotional basis of discourse practice in digital ecology and the needs of users for diversified emotional experience,and finds that the “emotional turn” discourse practice of “Capital News” can well meet the needs of the market.Starting from the constructive function of news,this paper also finds that the“emotional turn” of the “Capital News” can form a constructive intervention in the process of users receiving information,give play to its initiative at the level of “emotional regulation”,promote users to carry out appropriate interactive participation under “emotional norms”,have an important impact on the public opinion environment and promote the solution of social problems.Through the intervention of emotion,both news producers and news receivers participate in the process of social governance,which shows the constructive function of “emotional turn” discourse practice.Finally,this paper reflects on the emotional turn practice of the “Capital News”,refines and summarizes the emotional turn characteristics of the “Capital News” from two aspects:the construction of public value and the pursuit of rational emotion,and finally points out the reference of the emotional turn news practice to the news media.In the era of digital media,news media need to regard emotion as a strategic resource and focus on excavating the emotional connotation in news facts;In addition,we should also emphasize the rational and emotional elements in news reports to realize the benign guidance of social public opinion;Finally,the news media should give full play to the flexible power of emotion,pay more attention to the important role of emotion in connecting social relations,pay attention to the significance of emotion in the construction of social environment,truly implement the consciousness of establishing a “community of social destiny”,promote the improvement of the whole social value system,and gently and vigorously promote the development of society.
