Study On Postwar Japanese Issues From The Perspective Of Ta Kung Pao (1945-1949)

Ta Kung Pao had many connections with Japan since its inception in 1902.After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression,the disposal of Japan has become one of the hot spots of public opinion from all walks of life.As one of the most influential newspapers at the time,the Grand Gazette gave full attention to how the Nationalist government could carry out the Japanese disposal.After the victory of the War of Resistance against Japan,Ta Kung Pao stressed that after the war Japan did not really concede defeat,after the surrender of Japan still has dangerous factors.On this basis,Ta Kung Pao discusses the future of Japanese control from three aspects: world,China and Japan,the specific method of controlling Japan in political,economic and cultural aspects,and evaluates the behavior of allies and national governments in controlling Japan.In economic control,Ta Kung Pao discussed in detail the issue of post-war claims against Japan,emphasizing the significance of claims against Japan by citing the case of Japan after the Sino-Japanese War,suggesting that Japanese compensation should be based on the needs of China,and that China should develop industrialization with the proceeds of compensation.Ta Kung Pao also attached great importance to the handling of Japanese personnel in China after the war,discussed in detail how to prosecute,try and punish Japanese prisoners of war and how to repatriate and retain Japanese prisoners of war.Since then,with the change of American policy towards Japan and the rise of China’s "anti-American support to Japan" movement,Ta Kung Pao has expounded the reasons and purposes of the United States’ support for Japan from three aspects: China,Japan and the United States,introduced the specific performance of the United States’ support for Japan,such as delaying the Japan Peace Conference,releasing Japanese war criminals and reducing Japanese compensation,discussed the influence of the United States’ support policy on different countries,and showed its attitude towards the United States’ firm resistance to supporting Japan,and pointed out that China should deal with this problem by convening the Japan Peace Conference.Finally,by analyzing the suggestions and claims about Ta Kung Pao’s understanding of post-war Japan,its control over Japan,its claim against Japan,its disposition of Japanese personnel and United States’ policy of supporting Japan,I summarized the characteristics,and from the relationship between the Ta Kung Pao and the Kuomintang and the Communist Party,further pointed out that the Ta Kung Pao represents the middle forces on the consideration of the future of the nation.This study will provide some reference for us to understand the claims of the intermediate forces on the disposal of Japan.
