The rapid development of Internet technology has driven the birth of video websites,which providing a solid technical foundation and a broad field for media consumption.Compared with traditional media consumption,online consumption shows flexible time and space which strengthens the symbolic violence.The content presentation and the commercial operation of video websites are actively manipulated by the business logic and reinforced by algorithmic technology,resulting in symbolic violence in the new media environment,which suppresses users and affects their consuming behaviors.Taking video website users as the research object with in-depth interview,it aims at dealing with the problems around symbolic violence with its formation and the characteristics of users’ payment behavior.Finally,try to clarify how symbolic violence of video websites influences the behavior of users and how the users resist and accommodate with it.The study found out that under the suppression of symbolic violence on video websites,users’ payment behavior presents a kind of inertia from Internet fans with the purpose of pursuing the ultimate viewing experience and the impulsiveness of high-quality content,which shows the aesthetics of their taste and identity,and the duality of money and attention expenditure.In addition,because of the empowerment from the network platform and the awareness of self-consciousness,users begin to perceive the existence of symbolic violence and actively reflect on the payment behavior which is used to be unconscious.Therefore,they have discovered the information cocoon constructed by algorithm technology and the symbolic violence of advertising.So it is necessary to strengthen self-examination and control payment behavior.In the process of negotiating with video websites and other users,they resist the implementation of symbolic violence positively by enhancing the initiative of payment behavior.However,this new style of consumption also has limitations,that the symbolic violence of video websites is not a state of complete containment or change,but is weakened in the confrontation between the economic force and the user autonomy,and rebuilt between the commercial competition and the policy regulation.All in all,the consumption field of video websites has formed a negotiated consumption mode dominated by video-website users,which has changed the phenomenon that users are manipulated by symbolic violence.
