With the development of the Internet of Things(Io T)technology,the demand for remote monitoring of terminal devices through platform of Io T is increasing continuously.Intelligent gateway,as an intermediate hub connecting terminal devices and the cloud platform,plays a vital role in the development of the Internet of Things.The main function of the intelligent gateway is to collect terminal data and transfer terminal data to the cloud platform,to monitor and manage the on-site environment.During the implementation of the intelligent gateway,collecting and transmitting data effectively is the key issue.Therefore,an intelligent gateway based on the Io T cloud platform is designed to reduce network traffic consumption on the basis of stable data collection and reliable transmission.Firstly,the data transmission format and working principle of Modbus protocol and MQTT protocol is exploreed.And an adaptive heartbeat mechanism based on the golden section search method is proposed in order to improve the problem of flow and power consumption in the heartbeat mechanism of the MQTT protocol.Secondly,in response to the pressure brought by the massive data generated by the terminal equipment to the data transmission of the intelligent gateway,a data processing solution based on edge computing is proposed.Through custom data processing rules,the collected terminal data can be preprocessed in the intelligent gateway and then upload to the cloud to achieve the purpose of saving network traffic,reducing network bandwidth requirements and reducing cloud computing pressure.Thirdly,based on the above-mentioned research on communication protocol,adaptive heartbeat mechanism,and edge computing,the designing solution of intelligent gateway is proposed and software and hardware platforms are developed,to realize the unctions of data collection,data transmission,protocol conversion,and edge computing.The hardware of intelligent gateway mainly contains STM32F407single-chip microcomputer,the RS485 module circuit,4G module circuit,storage module circuit and power supply circuit.The software part of the intelligent gateway mainly completes the development of Modbus data collection,MQTT data transmission,protocol conversion and edge computing programs.In addition,the corresponding configuration software is developed to complete the configuration of the communication parameters of the intelligent gateway.Finally,set up test environment to test various functions of the intelligent gateway.The results show that the designed intelligent gateway meets the design requirements and has a certain practicability.
