Research On Academic Influence Of Open Access Journals

Open-access journals charge the authors for space,but open access to the readers is completely free,which reduces the readers’ expenditure in obtaining the literature,increases the chances of reading and citing the research results,and enlarges the visibility and influence of the authors’ research results.Therefore,open access is more and more popular with the authors and periodicals.Open access journals are quite different from traditional academic journals.In recent years,the quantitative indexes based on social media such as altmetrics have been more and more recognized.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part focuses on the purpose and significance of the research on the academic influence of Open Access Journals,and summarizes the domestic and foreign research on it.The second part introduces the related theory used in this paper,including structural equation model,factor analysis and artificial neural network theory and implementation steps.The third part introduces several quantitative indexes based on social media,and combines them with traditional quantitative evaluation indexes.Firstly,according to the characteristics of open access journals,the indexes of altmetrics,Mendeley readers and APC level are added into the indexes of open access journals.Finally,the structure equation model is used to analyze the confirmatory factor of the evaluation model.The fourth part uses factor analysis and neural network to study the academic impact evaluation of open access journals.Firstly,9 evaluation indexes are analyzed by factor analysis method,and two public factors,namely,academic level factor and spreading strength factor,are extracted and given reasonable weight.Finally,based on9 evaluation indexes and factor scores,a neural network model is established to rank the importance of 9 indexes,revealing their importance to open access journals.Finally,the paper summarizes the research of the full text,and puts forward the deficiency of the research on the academic influence of open access journals and the direction of further research.
