Research On The Supply Chain Resilience Of Huawei Mobile Phone Chip Under The Background Of U.S.-China Technological Competition

As the core of high-tech industry,chip industry is an important strategic industry to ensure a country’s military security and evaluate its economic strength,which is the focus of attention of all countries.In recent years,the United States has taken advantage of its existing scientific and technological superiority to restrict and crack down on Chinese high-tech enterprises,and has taken advantage of the pandemic to promote the restructuring of the global chip supply chain,which has severely slowed down China-Us economic cooperation and at the same time severely impacted the supply chain resilience of Chinese enterprises.This paper takes Huawei as the case,takes the mobile phone chip industry as the main body of research,and studies the supply chain resilience of Huawei’s mobile phone chip against the background of Sino-US technological competition.It summarizes and reflects on the impact and coping methods of Huawei in this incident,which can also provide reference for other high-tech information and communication enterprises to maintain the supply chain resilience.This article consists of six parts.The first part is the introduction,which foreshadows the content of the thesis.The second part mainly introduces the concepts related to the mobile phone chip industry and supply chain resilience,and summarizes the chip industry and its development history,the main mobile phone chips and key technologies,and the main suppliers of mobile phone chips.The third part discusses in detail the evolution,influence and motivation of America’s science and technology strategy to China,and discusses its development trend based on the characteristics of the mobile phone chip supply chain under this background.The fourth part,starting from the case of Huawei,analyzes the structure and toughness of its mobile phone chip supply chain.The fifth part focuses on the restriction event in the United States,analyzes in detail the beginning and end of the event,its impact on Huawei’s mobile phone chip supply chain and Huawei’s countermeasures,and summarizes relevant experience.The last part is the conclusion and suggestion.The analysis concludes that the chip supply shortage risk,the core technology and equipment still rely on import,the chip industry chain exists "breakpoint" and the continuous fermentation of external risks are the main reasons affecting the toughness of Huawei’s mobile phone chip supply chain.Therefore,it is necessary to strengthen personnel training,R&D investment and independent innovation;Strengthen risk assessment and develop the ability to respond to lawsuits;Strengthen the construction of enterprise brand image;To break through the weak links in the toughness of Huawei’s mobile phone chip supply chain,such as accelerating the localization of core products,ensuring the controllability of industrial links,focusing on key markets,and improving the supply chain risk prevention and control system,etc.
