| Academic books are an important carrier of thought dissemination to drive academic research,strengthen discipline construction and promote social progress.With the rise of “Western learning reading fever” in China in the 1980 s,some idealistic intellectuals and publishing houses actively translated and introduced excellent works from overseas,and published series of books in a planned way.The Overseas China Studies Series stands out in the imported academic book market because of its unique publishing theme.This paper takes Overseas China Studies Series of Jiangsu People’s Publishing House as the main research object,and studies the construction process of knowledge community in the editing and publishing process of this series.From the longitudinal point of view,this paper reviews the publishing process of the Overseas China Studies Serie and describes the characteristics of the development of the series in different periods.Under the influence of the reform and opening up environment and the “series publishing craze” in the domestic publishing industry,Jiangsu People’s Publishing House and Liu Dong planned to publish the Overseas China Studies Series.Over the past 35 years,the series has become a classic and influenced generations of scholars.From a horizontal perspective,this paper explores how the knowledge and culture surrounding the books flow between different systems in the different publishing stages of imported academic books,such as copyright introduction,content creation,marketing and promotion,and what are the similarities and differences in the cultural transmission modes and cultural values of different subjects in the same system.This part explores the relationship among authors,editors and readers from the process of copyright introduction,content creation,marketing promotion,circulation and communication of the series.Editors act as a bridge between authors and readers,so that knowledge can flow freely among authors,editors and readers.This dissemination and circulation of knowledge promotes the re-creation of knowledge by various subjects,and forms new connections,interactions and integration in the process.After deeply analyzing the publishing process of Overseas China Studies Series from different angles,this paper sorts out and analyzes the path and effect of the knowledge community construction of Overseas China Studies Series.The construction of the knowledge community of Overseas China Studies Series mainly includes three approaches: academic circle communication,cultural space influence and media exposure influence.The completed construction of the knowledge community promotes the flow of knowledge,promotes the international cross-cultural communication,activates the idea of the new series project,inherits and strengthens the discipline construction.Under the new publishing environment,there are some difficulties in the early,middle and late stages of the construction of the knowledge community,namely the introduction,translation and promotion of the texts.Academic publishers can take various ways to strengthen copyright management,improve translation efficiency,and locate the target readers.In the practice of publishing introduced academic series,book publishers should strengthen the maintenance and management of the series brand,so that the series can adapt to the market changes. |
