"Media is information." In the era of electronic communication in the 1860 s,Mc Luhan pointed out that media,as the existence environment of human behavior, deeply affects human social behavior and social life.Decades later, his student Merowitz creatively combined Goffman’s parody theory with it and proposed the media situational theory.Using "new media-new roles-new behaviors" as a clue, this paper outlines how the context constructed by electronic media affects and changes people’s social identities, roles, and social behaviors. As a derivative of the era of online communication, the role positioning, behavior, and development of the host of online interview programs are also deeply influenced by the context. This article takes online interview programs and their hosts such as "My view of the world","Thirteen Invitations","Only Three Days Visible",and "Stand" as the research objects.Based on Merowitz’s media context theory, this article explores the role context, role positioning, and role presentation of interview program hosts in the era of online communication, and analyzes the role development direction of interview program hosts in the new media form. This article combs the development context and theoretical framework of media situational theory from the perspective of theoretical traceability, and analyzes the changes in the scene structure of online interview programs based on this analysis. The separation boundaries in the scene have been eliminated and reorganized, the boundaries between the foreground and the background have gradually blurred, and the polarization of the separation has emerged. The privatization of public scenes is combined with the publicity of private scenes, and scenes have significant category characteristics. In the quantitative analysis of online interview programs,it is found that the group relationship of the host role is gradually weakening, and new group identities continue to merge into the host role, resulting in the emergence of "cross-border hosts".The role of the host deviates from the script expectations under traditional social norms, achieving a shift towards personalized and constructive roles.Based on the media context theory, the author attempts to propose the role behavior strategies of network interview program hosts in the new network electronic communication context. From the perspective of discourse strategy, there should be a shift towards the stylization of mid zone discourse, the pre processing of post zone discourse, and the integration of situational buzzwords. From the perspective of interactive strategies,in the use of media, both instrumental rationality and value rationality should be emphasized, and empathy communication in real situations should be constructed with guests to enable the audience to feel a sense of physical presence in mixed situations. It is hoped that this study will provide a new theoretical perspective and explanatory basis for the innovation and development of the role of host in the era of online communication.
