The report of the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has pointed out that "high-quality development" is still the primary task of building a socialist modern country in an all-round way.The development of the industrial Internet is conducive to promoting and deepening the supply-side structural reform,improving the production efficiency of all factors,improving the competitiveness of commodities,forming a supply that matches the social demand,and promoting the transformation and high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.Therefore,the manufacturing industry bursts into new vitality.At present,the core business of the MRO e-commerce platform is commodity services and supply chain services.The customers it serves include manufacturing,energy and minerals,transportation,construction and other industries.Commodity category management bears the responsibility of resource integration,and the category management department is one of the core departments of the MRO e-commerce platform.Based on the relevant theories of category management,this paper carries out the research on category management optimization of A Company,a representative enterprise in the MRO e-commerce industry.First of all,the internal and external conditions of Company A were analyzed using management analysis methods.Additionally,a questionnaire survey was conducted on the sales staff of Company A to understand the satisfaction of the current category management to customer needs,as well as the problems related to the category management encountered in the work.At the same time,interviews were conducted with employees and suppliers in the commodity management department of the same industry in Company A.Through a comprehensive analysis of the questionnaire and interview results,the problems in the commodity category management were found,mainly including: lack of new product development stamina,The products not being in line with the customer’s needs,the category evaluation an imperfect system,the poor category promotion feedback,and the low coordination of the product management personnel.Finally,based on the suggestions obtained from the interview and the author’s work experience,it provides solutions on how to develop new products,optimize the product structure,improve the category evaluation,optimize the category promotion strategy,and adjust the internal structure and process.By analyzing the problems existing in category management of Company A,this paper puts forward targeted optimization measures to help Company A adapt to localized operation as soon as possible under the new enterprise strategy,improve market share,and also hope to provide a reference for category management research in the MRO e-commerce industry.
