Abstract/Summary:
The development of digital technology is profoundly impacting the operations of the global service industry.According to statistics from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the global international trade value of digital delivery services has increased from $1,392.848 billion in 2006 to $3,811.377 billion in 2021,with an average annual growth rate of nearly 11.6%.The percentage of service trade conducted through digital delivery in total service trade has also risen from 45.88% in 2006 to 62.77% in 2021.These figures indicate that the emergence and application of digital technology have created more opportunities for the service industry, changing its traditional business model and providing greater possibilities for cross-border service trade.Through digital technology, enterprises in a country can develop new service products and rapidly promote and sell them globally.Furthermore, digital technology can enhance the quality and performance of service products. For instance, companies can improve service efficiency and accuracy through technologies like artificial intelligence and big data analysis, thereby increasing the complexity of service exports. Therefore, studying the impact of digital technology on the complexity of service exports can assist enterprises in better seizing market opportunities, managing risks, improving the quality and efficiency of service exports, and reducing associated costs and risks. This research holds significant practical implications for enhancing the technological content and international competitiveness of a country’s service exports. This article is divided into five parts. The first part introduces the research background, significance, literature review, writing content, and research methods. It also elaborates on the potential innovations and limitations of this article. The second part examines the impact mechanism of digital technology on the complexity of service exports.Drawing upon relevant theories, this section analyzes how digital technology affects the complexity of service exports through four dimensions:production efficiency, trade costs, export scale, and development environment. The third part provides an overview of digital technology development and service exports in the key countries examined in this article.Firstly,it discusses the development status of digital technology in different regions and presents a comprehensive digital technology indicator system to calculate the overall digital technology scores for each country.Secondly,it explores the current state of service trade exports in various regions and introduces a calculation method for measuring the complexity of service exports. The results are then computed using relevant formulas and compared across industries and countries. The fourth part presents the empirical analysis. It begins by describing the selection of indicators and research methods, and subsequently employs Stata16.0 software to conduct two-way fixed effect regression, robustness tests, and heterogeneity analysis on transnational panel data. These analyses aim to empirically examine the impact of digital technology on the complexity of service exports and its effects. The final part concludes the article and provides suggestions based on the findings.
