With the Internet and the popularization of mobile music APPs on a tear,people’s lives have been provided a wealth of entertainment.Getting music information with the aid of primary mobile music apps has gradually become a daily habit of people.In the user’s music interaction behavior,a passive,unexpected and low-expected way of discovering music information has become a common behavior,this is "music information encounter".Information encounter was first proposed in the field of library and information science,but most studies have focused on incidental incidents that occur in the context of active information-gathering behaviors.Although music information encounter is also a dynamic,multi-situation and multi-factor complex interactive information activity,in addition to task-oriented,entertainment-oriented information environment also provides a different research perspective for information encounter.Exploring the behavioral process and influencing factors of users’ music information encounter can not only help enrich the theoretical basis of information encounter,but also provide effective optimization suggestions for mobile music APPs.In view of this,this paper starts with music information encounter,focuses on college student users of mobile music APP,and combines existing research results to explore the behavior process and influencing factors of music information encountering.This study adopts a combination of qualitative research and quantitative research.First,the data was collected through semi-structured interviews.Based on the grounded theory,the three-level coding of the data is carried out to extract the music information encounter behavior process and influencing factors of college students.Secondly,use the questionnaire to collect data,process the data through a series of statistical analysis methods,and Verify the influencing factors of music information encountering of college students.The research results mainly have the following two parts.Part Ⅰ.The behavior process of music information encounter of college students is divided into three parts: front,middle and back,each part contains several behavior stages.A complete musical information encounter includes seven behavioral stages:prepare,trigger,perceive,evaluate,acquire,utilize,jump or end.Part Ⅱ.The influencing factors of music information encounter of college students include user factors,information factors,platform factors and environmental factors of mobile music APP.The user factors include personality traits,user status,usage habits,user cognition,user roles,music information needs and music information literacy;Information factors have external features and internal features;platform factors include quality of system and quality of service;environmental factors refer to the activity environment.However,after the hypothesis verification,it is found that the relationship between user cognition,music information demand and music information encounter is not significant,and the other influencing factors are positively affecting music information encounter.According to the research results,this paper provides five related optimization suggestions for the follow-up design and service of mobile music APP.
