In recent years,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has actively promoted the construction and reform of the industrial worker team,and attaches great importance to the comprehensive and high-quality development of the industrial worker team.As a major mining resource-based province,coal miners are an important component of industrial workers in Shanxi.Paying attention to the identity of coal miners is closely related to promoting the high-quality development of the industrial worker team.However,at present,the proportion of young people in the coal industry is relatively low,and the attractiveness of coal companies to young people continues to decline.Coal companies face a dilemma of difficult employment and retention,and the identity of young miners is related to the high-quality development and transformation of Shanxi’s coal industry in the future.With the advent of the media era,media practice not only permeates society in all aspects but also shapes people’s identity.Based on this,it is necessary to explore the media use and identity identification of young miners in coal enterprises from the perspective of communication studies.This study mainly adopts a combination of in-depth interviews and on-site observations to interview a total of 25 young miners,attempting to explore the relationship between the daily use of media and identity construction of young miners using a practical paradigm of media research.Taking the daily use of media by young miners as a starting point,it can be adapted to the practical research paradigm of media presence.This study places the media practice of young miners in specific practical contexts,Explore their identity identification in specific contexts based on the temporal and spatial dimensions of work and leisure time.This study finds that the use of media in the work of young miners(mainly production technology,safety helmets,work clothes,and embedded positioning and calling technology in the work environment)provides them with a sense of psychological security,professional belonging,and social group value.The significance of media use(mainly mobile media)in leisure time outside of work for young miners is not only at the level of entertainment and rest,socializing,and maintaining and consolidating interpersonal relationships,but also has a deep meaning of highlighting the individuality of the youth group and pursuing self-worth.Young miners are the new force that creates social wealth and drives social development.They are also the unique characteristics of Generation Z that have grown up with the Internet.Exploring the interrelationship between their daily use of media and identity recognition is not only an inevitable requirement for promoting the construction and reform of industrial workers in the new era,enhancing their sense of identity,value,and honor,but also a further understanding of the psychological and cultural demands of young people,uniting them Mobilizing to stimulate their vitality and creativity is an inevitable requirement for realizing the life value of young people and promoting social development.
