Record The Times,Against The Rapid Decay:A Narrative Study Of Non-Fiction In The Novel Coronavirus Pandemic

The Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in late 2019,China has been fully deregulated until December 2022.In the past three years,from the outbreak to the normalization of the epidemic to the final opening of the public,as a major emergency public health event,the novel coronavirus has had a huge impact on the public.During this period,new media non-fiction writing platforms continued to produce relevant non-fiction works,which had a positive impact on society under the epidemic.In this paper,the non-fiction platform "Truman Story" is taken as an example,and 125 articles related to the epidemic published by the platform are screened and taken as research objects.Content analysis method is adopted to analyze the narrative subject,narrative perspective,narrative time and narrative structure of the article from the perspective of narratology,and statistics are made on the use of each narrative element in these aspects.At the same time,combined with the actual situation of the epidemic,this paper explores the impact of the narrative characteristics of the platform of "real planned stories" on the real society.Through research,it is found that in the aspect of narrative subject,the proportion of different narrators and the same narrators is basically equal,and nearly half of the articles have internal and external narrators nested;From the perspective of narrative,the author pays more attention to the zero focus of omnipotence,the inner focus that enables readers to have immersive experience,and the interweaving of multi-dimensional perspectives,so that readers can feel the hardship of the epidemic in immersive reading.In addition,in terms of narrative time,non-sequential narrative methods account for the largest proportion.The author will control the narrative time and the rhythm of the story by mobilizing the timing.Multi-level writing can also show the situation under the epidemic;Finally,the narrative structure is diversified in all the samples,with Jack Hart-style narrative arc,central series narrative,polyphony and other structures being used more.The transformation of the article structure highlights the focus of the epidemic in the arrangement of the plot.In the midst of the pandemic,non-fiction works themselves and their narrative characteristics have multiple values.First,for the public,whether storytellers or readers,they can release emotions and relieve mental stress.For the government,the engaging narrative mode of the article is conducive to reading and spreading.The display of positive and negative information can further enhance the understanding between officials and the public,and promote the optimization of the government’s epidemic prevention measures.Finally,from the macro perspective of The Times,the diversification of non-fiction writing concern groups and the trend of media are promoting the articles to record the truth of the epidemic,resist the rapid decay of news,and leave an imprint on this era.Of course,under the environment of new media,due to the influence of commercial logic and solicitation methods,there are still some problems such as the concession of bottom line ethics and the lack of responsibility ethics.Therefore,it requires the efforts of journalists,editors and platforms to promote the sustainable development of non-fiction writing.
