The environmental blocking and uncontrollable transmission path of radio-frequency signals restrict the performance of wireless communication systems.Intelligent Reflecting Surface(IRS)can configure the wireless transmission environment in real time by adjusting the reflection parameters,and is expected to become a key to the improving in energy efficiency and signal coverage of communication systems,where the location planning of IRS devices plays a very important role.We research in this thesis the location search algorithm and the location planning process for IRS deployment,and design and develop an IRS location planning software prototype.The main contributions and achievements of this thesis are as follows:Firstly,the recent research of IRS communication and wireless network planning is discussed,and the technical requirements of IRS location planning are analyzed.Three communication scenarios are designed,including single-terminal access,multiple-terminal access,and cascaded operation of two IRSs,and the receiving power for terminals which passing through single and double reflections of IRS are derived.For the work scenario of single IRS,a problem model with the goal of maximizing receiving power is constructed,and then a two-step optimization model is constructed for the cascaded scenario of IRS.Then,a computing method for the plane normal and deployment location of IRS for a single terminal is provided,and a heuristic IRS deployment location search(IDLS)algorithm for multiple terminals is extended.Compared with the enumeration method,the computational performance of IDLS algorithm is significantly improved under the conditions of high-precision.Furthermore,for the deployment and planning of IRS in three-dimensional space,the computational process of the common line-of-sight area between the receiver and transmitter and the two-step processing of cascaded IRS is provided.Finally,the functional and computational performance demands of the IRS location planning software are analyzed.A two-tier architecture and modules of the software are designed,and the relationships between modules are given.Based on the Pyvista in Python library,a prototype with functions of 3D visualization and man-machine interface is developed and implemented.Furthermore,test is carried out for indoor communication scenarios to verify the applicability of the software.
