Release Pressure, Guide And Connect: Research On Youth’s Network Astrology Activities

Since the beginning of the reform and opening-up,astrology has been introduced,but the traditional line astrology often has a strong superstitious color.As media technology continues to change,astrology has entered the online world.The low threshold of Internet and the predictive characteristics of astrology make online astrology widely favored by young people.They use online astrology to cope with the struggle of involution and lying flat in the mobile society,stabilize their emotions and fully explore their self-worth through "Cyber burn incense and worship" in the continuous progress.It can be said that online astrology has become a way of life for young people,and has brought them extensive and profound influence.Based on this,this study takes online astrology for young people as the object.Through participatory observation and in-depth interview,this study explores how young people participate in online astrology activities and what influence such activities bring to young people.This study finds that the maturity of 5G network technology and the popularity of mobile phones accelerate the spread of online astrology in the digital era.In recent years,mobile apps,we-media,mini programs,public accounts and other mushrooming development have become the main and most important channels for young people to contact online astrology,and even online astrology has become an important medium for young people’s social practice.To be specific,online astrology satisfies the most basic emotional demands of young people,and is an effective medium for them to cope with the changes of modern society and realize self-cognition.It is worth noting that the reason why young women become the "main believers" of online astrology is also mainly related to satisfying their emotional demands,which is more or less influenced by the hidden existence of patriarchal culture.While young women yearn for the unprecedented effective shelter and comfort in online astrology,online astrology in a sense is escaping the structural problems of society and pursuing a fashion and shackle "eclecticism".In addition,online astrology provides a further guide at the crossroads of young people’s life.It has become a "guide" for young people to move forward in the way of symbol consumption,and even leads them to join this new profession and become a "decoder" of online astrology.Third,online astrology for young people realizes the intermediary function of interpersonal connection by relying on social media groups,which satisfies the needs of young people to further join the social interconnection in addition to their own demands.This kind of group is maintained by allowing entry through clear identity and establishing emotion.The young people in the group also achieve emotional accumulation,emotional maintenance and emotional settlement through active interaction,consolidating and strengthening interpersonal connections in the social community.In general,online astrology has become a medium of self-communication and personal connection in the digital age.Online astrology can relieve anxiety,obtain emotional comfort,broaden the channels for making friends,and help young people to integrate into the media life and personal socialization process.However,there is no doubt that some young people will also be addicted to online astrology,fall into consumerism,produce individual alienation,and even cause new confrontation and conflict due to circle distinction.Thus,the state of "play" seems to be the best way for online astrology to exist in contemporary society.
